A long weekend ahead so we planned a monsoon gateway..we planned to explore Matheran Lonavala SOU..it was about 2 in the noon We started from udaipur to Statue of Unity... It's almost 8hr drive.. We reached at 10pm. We stayed in the Dharmashala called Dada Bhagwaan which is 1 hr drive from SOU.
Early in the morning reached at SOU tickets counter. There was not much rush because it's was raining heavily. We took our tickets with deck view which cost us 380pp and normal tickets without Deck View starts from 120pp. We were lucky because the gates were opened on August 09. The Gujarat government opened the gates of Sardar Sarovar Dam for the first time after its installation as the water levels reached an all-time high of 131 metres.you can visit Velley of Flower , sardar sarover dam , museum dam etc at the SOU. was really amazing experience we ever had. After having lunch at sou we headed towards our next destination which required 9hr drive. We reached Kalyan(part of mumbai) at 12 in the night.
From kalyan it's 2 hr drive to Matheran:india's smallest hill station, near Mumbai, It’s known for itswell-preserved colonial architecture and so many beautiful monsoon waterfalls. Motor vehicles are banned and many visitors arrive by narrow-gauge railway Neral–Matheran Toy Train. During monsoon this facility not available here.. There are some monsoon view points either you can walk or take a horse which costs you upto 1500rs. Roaming in clouds with the beauty of Matheran has different charm.
