Trip to Matheran

Matheran is one of the nearest hill station that you can explore if you are a Dombivlikar. Best seasons to visit here are rainy and winters..Amidst the corona pandemic...we just wanted to wander in nature in a near vicinity place and chose Matheran for our trip after almost an year.

How to reach there?
One of the affordable and convenient routes is to take Karjat/Khopoli central trains and get down at Neral station. Beyond this we have regular taxis running Matheran charging 100 per seat currently.
We have a minimal entry fee at Matheran and also there are toy trains running from Aman Lodge to Matheran providing wonderful nature views and helping your energy to be saved for rest walking to reach various points and have a sight seeing. First class charges are at 310 and second class charges are 45 per ticket.

From Aman Lodge , we don't have any fuelled vehicle,so only options available are horse riding, a hand pulled auto rickshaws and long strides of walking.

Stay
We stayed at Sun and Shade resort which was nearest to the station 10 minutes walkable distance and equidistant to market too. It had clean rooms and a great valley view. The meals and food was very delicious and included in the package alongwith stay. We had lots of indoor games like carrom , TT and pool. Swimming pool was operational and looked decent though we didnt take a plunge in.

Garden had some amazing rides for kids to play and various eateries available like Vada Pav, masala corn , pink floss candy, bhajiya..We had dinner at resort followed by magic show organised indoors.

DAY 2 :
We took early morning horse ride to witness the spectacular sun rise at Alexander Point .It is equally wonderful to walk towards this point alongwith horse ride that my family took. Both offer its own advantages. It was then followed by Rambaugh point and finally Charlotte lake.
We also could witness the Swayambhu temple of PisarNath Temple.
Spectacular views...long strolls in nature's walk.Market place offers plenty of shopping options. Echo Point is also another famous worth visit point for exploring.

While on our return journey we took the horse ride from the market city.
