People always say that Malvan is a paradise in Monsoon season and is a mandate to visit. Considering the long weekend, during the August 15th 2019, we planned to visit Malvan for a period of 3-4 days. Searching for the accommodation, I came across an exotic stay called “Maachli” near Kudal.
After visiting their webpage and looking at the photos on the internet, we made it sure that this is the place where we are going to stay. We took an early morning train from Mumbai and reached Kudal station at around 11 AM. We had asked the host arrange a sumo for us.
The property is located bit near the main road. There is a small 5 min walk from the main road to reach this farmstay. It is very good that vehicles are not accessible directly to the property so there is silence and it gives a feeling of being with nature. After getting down from the sumo, we met the host Mr. Prathamesh. He greeted us and enquired about our journey and then guided us the way towards the accommodation.
2 mins after the walk, suddenly we found ourselves in the middle of a jungle with so many dense trees, birds, insects and river flowing.
There is small river which needs to be crossed by a bridge prepared of beetle nuts trees. At the beginning it felt that the bridge is too weak but it is little exciting to walk on this bridge and cross the river.
The bridge which needs to be crossed.
Once you are on the other side of the bridge, you will just be amazed by the cultivation done for the trees and how beautiful and planned this property is.
We were shown our accommodation and it was heaven. The room were so clean and beautiful. They were not made of some special marble or anything, just simple but elegant works. The farmstay is covered with hundreds of trees which kept the climate so cool that there was no need to install A/c in these rooms. Simple fans are very much effective.
After the tiring journey, we asked them to prepare our lunch. They informed us the food menu mostly seafood. As currently we were the only group staying at this property, the food was being customized for us. Once we were served, we couldn’t stop eating. The food was so delicious, tempting and tasty. It was a perfect home-made food. Sugar was not at all used and instead jaggery was added to prepare desserts.
After plenty of delicious food, we were no mood in travelling in the afternoon and just went back to our rooms to relax and get some sleep.
Evening, we hired a car and went to Bhogave Beach which is barely 8-9 kms from the farm stay. The condition of the roads were little bad due to the monsoons. The beach was isolated almost untouched by tourist. It had 2 parts, one with soft sands and the other part was covered with debris, waste, twigs returned by Mother Nature which belonged to us.
There is a triangle rock point on this beach. You need to have a drone to have look of the triangle shaped rock.
We returned back to Maachli and applied lots of Odomos. Due to the dense vegetation, there are lots of mosquitos who will trouble you during the night time. Again it was time for food. The food at Maachli will never disappoint you. At the end of the meal , we were literally struggling to get up from the table. As there were more guests for the dinner, they arranged buffet.
2nd Day :-
We went to Arambol beach, Goa. Yes Goa is just a 1 hour drive from this place. On our way back, we went to Sangameshwar beach, Vengurla. The beach was literally a ghost beach with no one. It was a white sand beach with clear warm water. A nice swim in the calm waters of the Sangameshwar beach relaxed the stress. The only issue is that you need to have your own transport to visit these places.
3rd Day :-
We decided to walk around the farms near Maachli. There are so many adjacent farms besides Maachli. Mostly coconut, betel-nut, banana trees completed their farms. After few hours of walk in the farm we came back to Maachli. There is a small stream which had small baby cat fishes. Prathamesh asked us whether we wanted to try fish spa and he just guided us to a small pool in the stream where there were hundreds of baby catfish. They started feeding the dirt on our heels. At first it was very tickling but then it was so soothing. After 30-35 mins, we came out of the stream and our heels and toes were so clean that we could easily make out. In the evening, we decided to go to Nivati Fort and Beach. The fort was a bit bruised, damaged but the lush greenery was making the fort picturesque. It was Narali Purnima this day and we saw the locals performing the rituals of Narali Purnima on the Nivati Beach. The fishermen offered coconut to Lord Varun who is considered as the Lord sea in returns for protection from unknown dangers at site.
We headed back to our farm stay had a delicious tummy filling meal and ended the trip on a happy note. This place has its own charm and magnetic field which will surely make you visit again and again to relax from the daily busy schedule.
