Rajmachi Killa or Rajmachi Fort
Trekking to Rajmachi fort or Rajmachi killa (killa means fort in the local langage) is a major activity here. This ancient historic fort was once the stronghold of Maratha Kingdom. It consists of two fortresses; Shriwardhan and Manaranjan. There is a wide plateau surrounding these two fortresses.
Rajmachi Killa or fort is a protected monument. It was the sight of the first Anglo-Maratha War between the British East India Company and Maratha Empire. The British were totally defeated in this war.
Udhewadi village with a small population just 60 families is the base station to this fort, at the southern foot of the fort.
Imagicaa Theme Park at Khopoli
One of the main attractions for any tourist to Khopoli hills is the Imagicaa theme park. It can be considered as the best theme park in India. It has got many first’s to its credit.
Tungarli Lake and Tungarli Dam
Tungarli Lake is yet another major attraction at this hill station. This picturesque lake has got calm blue waters. Tungarli Dam supplies water to this lake. This dam was build in the 1930’s. Tungarli dam is the main source of water for some of the nearby hill stations,
You will get an unparalleled view of the Sahyadri range of mountains from the lake side. You need to trek a short distance to reach the Tungarli lake. On your way to the top, There are street vendors selling snacks and food items. Lohagad Fort can be seen from here.
