Monsoon is a much-awaited season in India. In western ghats, this is the time when the entire place turns into a green paradise. Waterfall into their full glory is one such beautiful change in nature brought up by rains.
Devkund is one such waterfall hidden in the jungle still unknown to many people. During monsoon, its beauty is enhanced when water gushes at full speed.
Where is Devkund?
Devkund waterfall is Located near Bhira in Raigad district. It is approx 110 km from Pune and 170 km from Mumbai.
How to reach Devkund?
By Train
CST local to Karjat-Bus from Karjat to Pali -Bus to Bhira.
By Bus
Drive to Karjat-Pali-Bhira. In Bhira you might face parking issues so it's better to park your car in Pali and take a local bus till Bhira.
Best time to visit Devkund?
During monsoon, the waterfall is at its peak which looks absolutely stunning. However, many accidents have been reported here during monsoon. It would be better to visit post-monsoon or rather checking weather department advisory before going. Due to the shape of the hill, the water level rises quickly so avoid traveling during heavy rains.
Can the trek to waterfall be done on own?
No. Many drowning incidents have been reported while some people tried to visit this place on their own. Hire a guide at Bhira, they would charge 100-200 Rs maximum. They know the routes well and can also tell you facts about the village and waterfall.

Duration-1.5 to 2 hrs from starting point.
Distance-6.5 km approx.
Endurance required-medium
The trail begins from the open parking area at Bhira. From there you have to walk up to the village. Once you reach the village, you will come across food stalls, have some food and start climbing. The path is well laid with direction boards set up. A short trek of around 2 hours will lead you to waterfall.
Considering some accidents reported in the past, it is safer to take a guide with you. Devkund means bathing pond of god, hence we must respect the belief of villagers by not disturbing the environment or littering anywhere.
While passing through dense forest, one can see plenty of small waterfalls, streams on the way. There are a total of 3 to 4 streams like patches that you need to cross which will definitely give you a thrill.In case you want to stay at the base village, villagers will definitely assist you. The entire trail is mostly open fields except for the last stretch of 300ft ascending to reach the waterfall.

1. Devkund is one of the few falls in Maharashtra which comes under the category of plunge falls, which means the waterfall pouring a massive amount of water on the rocky surface underneath.
2. It is a confluence of three waterfalls and is said to be the origin of the Kundalika river.

During monsoon, the entire village turns into a green paradise. Plan stay with your family and enjoy its stunning beauty. You can also plan a day picnic at the falls during the weekend. Carry your essentials such as water since nothing will be available near the falls.
