After doing all the possible activities with friends in the city, like watching films in theatres, home parties, eating out, etc., it was time to explore 'Mumbai's outskirts.' We decided to go for a weekend night out.

To find a place that suits everyone's time/availability is a task in itself. As I was looking for options, I found this 'not so talked about' resort called JenJon in Igatpuri. The resort looked good in pictures, and the proximity from Mumbai added the cherry on the cake.

I quickly booked the resort for the weekend for the 8 of us. And needless to say, we have had the most relaxing time at the resort. The resort was good, service was good, the rooms were unique, and the view of lake Vaitarna was amazing. The best part was that the resort is just 85km from Mumbai and it took us only three and half hours.

About the Resort

JenJon resort is a hidden gem in Igatpuri surrounded by an abundance of nature - Sahyadri mountains, fort, Vaitarna lake and forests of verdant greenery.

Stay

JenJon has plenty of room options to choose from their Sky-Deck Machaan to Swiss Chalet, Java Plum Cottage to the Lake Side Villa all the rooms are different and provide different kinds of experience. The resort also has a small swimming pool and many other areas to sit and chill.

TIP: Try taking the first floor in the Swiss chalet for the unparallel views.

Food

Any experience that combines good food is a great experience.

JenJon has a multi-cuisine restaurant that offers freshly prepared vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. They also have a separate kitchen to prepare Veg/Jain food, making two of our friends very happy.

Activities

You don't need too many activities when travelling with friends, but just in- case you do need there are a plethora of things to do.

From taking a dip in the resort's swimming pool to taking a dip in the lake, kayaking or boating, there are enough things to keep you on your toes. The resort also provides cycles which you can take out to spin. One can also ask the resort to organise a riverside picnic or set up a bonfire.

If you are looking something more adventurous, you can also head to the famous trek to Kalsubai, the highest peak in Maharashtra.
