How to reach Karnala Fort
By train: The nearest railway station is Panvel, which is 12 km away from the fort. You can take a taxi or an auto rickshaw from the station to reach the fort.
By bus: There are buses from Mumbai Central and Vashi to Karnala Fort. The buses stop at the Karnala Bird Sanctuary, from where you can take a taxi or an auto rickshaw to the fort.
By car: Karnala Fort is well connected by road. You can drive from Mumbai or Pune on the Mumbai-Goa Highway. The fort is about 60 km from Mumbai and 120 km from Pune.
From Mumbai: 2 hours by car, Rs. 500 by taxi
From Pune: 3 hours by car, Rs. 700 by taxi
From Panvel: 1 hour by car, Rs. 200 by taxi
Trekking
The trek to Karnala Fort is about 6 km long and takes about 5 to 6 hours. The trail is moderate and can be easily managed by beginners. However, it is advisable to start early in the morning to avoid the heat.
