Named after the Mughal emperor, Aurangzeb, Aurangabad is a tourist hub of Maharashtra thanks to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Ajanta Caves and Ellora Caves that lie on its outskirts. Bibi ka Maqbara, which bears resemblance to the Taj Mahal is an important historical monument in Aurangabad. Not to forget nearby Shivaji Maharaj Museum, dedicated to the Maratha king Shivaji, displays war weapons and a coin collection. Also the city is famous for Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, which is one of the shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva that is referenced in the Shiva Purana.
