Pune, known for its vibrant culture and historical significance, was the destination for my relaxing two-day trip. While my stay in Koregaon Park provided a cozy retreat, my culinary experience at a renowned restaurant left much to be desired. Join me as I share the highlights and disappointments of my Pune adventure.
Day 1:
Arrival and Check-in:
After a lengthy journey via the Shivneri bus from Navi Mumbai, I arrived in Pune and took an auto-rickshaw to my Airbnb stay in Koregaon Park. The host was welcoming, ensuring my comfort throughout the visit.
Lunch at "Toscano":
Eager to try a popular restaurant, I opted for "Toscano" near my accommodation. The ambience was impressive, but the experience soon turned sour. The Minestrone soup took longer than expected, and the accompanying garlic bread was unappealing. The Vegetarian Lasagna, served with a small portion and a surplus of salad, left me disappointed.
The restaurant, despite being empty, had slow and inadequate service. Water glasses remained unfilled, and the plates were not changed after the soup. While the ambience was pleasant, the overall experience fell short of expectations, with ample room for improvement.
Exploring Koregaon Park:
In the evening, I decided to explore the vibrant neighborhood of Koregaon Park. Its walkways, lined with various restaurants, pubs, and cafes, offered plenty of options for a delightful culinary experience.
Leisure Time and Relaxation:
As a self-proclaimed couch potato seeking relaxation, I indulged in the serene surroundings of Koregaon Park. Taking advantage of the change in scenery, I found solace in my cozy Airbnb, enjoying some downtime and rejuvenation.
The German Bakery:
In the evening, we visited The German Bakery, enticed by its minimalist and cozy ambience. We ordered sandwiches, juices, and cake, all of which turned out to be delicious. The bakery lived up to its reputation, providing a delightful experience for our taste buds.
Continuing my two-day trip in Pune, I embarked on a culinary journey, exploring both popular eateries and hidden gems. From a disappointing breakfast at a hyped stall to delightful misal at Abha Misal, join me as I share the flavors and experiences of the second day.
Day 2:
Garden Wadapav and Abha Misal:
Eager to try the famous Garden Wadapav, we joined the crowd at the stall. Unfortunately, the wadapav fell short of expectations, leaving us disappointed by the unnecessary hype surrounding it. However, our spirits were quickly lifted when we visited Abha Misal, where we savored a delicious misal and refreshing buttermilk, bringing a sense of satisfaction to our breakfast experience.
INOX Cinema and Savy Rasa:
To add some entertainment to our day, we headed to a nearby INOX cinema and enjoyed a movie. Following the film, we decided to tantalize our taste buds with South Indian cuisine at Savy Rasa. The masala dosa, accompanied by flavorful chutney and sambar, was a true delight.
Evening Relaxation and Mocha Pune:
After some leisurely exploration, we returned to our cozy stay and took some time to relax. In the evening, seeking dinner and a little fun, we visited Mocha Pune. We ordered an Americano and a Mocha Shake, both of which satisfied our cravings. As we weren't particularly hungry, we called it an early night.
Day 3:
The German Bakery Revisited:
On our departure day, we returned to The German Bakery for a final taste. We tried the Basil Risotto, which unfortunately turned out to be somewhat dry and lacking in flavor. However, the bakery redeemed itself with its delectable cakes, providing a sweet ending to our Pune culinary journey.
As my Pune escapade came to an end, the culinary adventures of the second day left me with mixed experiences. While The German Bakery offered delicious treats and cozy ambience, the much-hyped Garden Wadapav fell short. Abha Misal provided a satisfying breakfast, and Savy Rasa delighted us with authentic South Indian flavors. Pune's diverse food scene offers a range of options, and though not every dish met expectations, the journey remained an exciting exploration of tastes and textures.
My Pune journey was a mix of cozy retreat and culinary adventures. While my stay in Koregaon Park provided a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere, my dining experiences ranged from disappointing to delightful. The German Bakery and Abha Misal stood out as culinary highlights, offering delicious treats and satisfying flavors. Pune's food scene offers a variety of options, and while some experiences fell short of expectations, the journey remained an exciting exploration of tastes and textures.
