This corporate life makes us suffocated sometimes. That's why I always try to find solace in some sleepy mountain village or some less touristy beach.
Few months back when my work life was getting a toll over peace of my mind, I decided to go on weekend trip to Kodaikanal. Thankfully few friends agreed to accompany me. Kodaikanal is a very beautiful town which attracts many tourists and it was on my list from a long time.
How to reach: Nearest airport is Madurai which is 120km from Kodaikanal
Nearest station is Kodai Road which is 100km from Kodaikanal.
Kodaikanal has its own bus stop which is connected to many cities. This is how Kodaikanal welcomed us.
Whenever I go to any new place, I always try to get some local feel. Be it local food or any local activities. This time I choose one stay from Airbnb which was over a cliff. It had a beautiful view as per the given pictures in their website. Little did I know the places is much more beautiful than the pictures. On top of it the journey to the house was amazing...On the way you can see spectacular view of the forest, few tiny villages and not to forget a lot of peer trees. When we reached the given location, we couldn't see any house.
There was long feathery, white broom like flowers at least 5-6 feet tall and a narrow road hidden in those flowers. Somehow we could call the caretaker and he came to escort us too the house. Network was an issue at that location as this place is in the outskirts of the city. As they say the best thing in life doesn't come easy, you need to sacrifices a little to see something extraordinary.
So there was it, a one story house over this cliff with amazing view of Kodaikanal. I could bet that's the best view I have seen in Kodai. You could feel clouds sweeping over your feet. Those fresh cold breeze I could feel on my face....Aah I can die for that feeling.
This had three large bedroom along with beautiful balconies and very tastefully done interior. You can just lie on your bed watching the magic of sky thorough out the day. The view of sunset was spectacular. We all just sat there and watched it without uttering a single word. It was kind of a different world. Clouds all over the places, beautiful view and you can even feel your heart beats.
Later our caretaker was kind enough to arrange a bonfire for around 1000 bucks. It was icing on the cake. That evening was perfect, you know the view of Kodaikanal city, bonfire and Prateek kuhad's song.
They don't have kitchen in the house, so you need to place your food order with the caretaker. He can cook your food or get it from the city. Their was microwave and basic cutleries.
Next day we witnessed a beautiful sunrise with a hot cup of coffee. I lied down on the bed watching the morning view for a while. With a heavy heart got ready for the end of the trip followed by delicious breakfast and started our journey back to the city life.
This house comes for 7800 for a night with maximum six gets.
