We arrived at Trivandrum airport n then we started our journey towards Kovalam, which was our first destination in Kerala. We spent the afternoon, by taking a boat ride in Poovar to experience the mangrove forests n see the sunset at the golden sand beach.
Early in the morning, we headed on a five hours journey to Alleppey from Kovalam.
We embarked on our journey to the beautiful backwaters in Vembanad lake (the longest lake in India) in our private houseboat.
It was a day well spent, admiring the beauty of nature n enjoying in serenity.
As we had an overnight stay in the houseboat, all the meals were served onboard. The food was tasty n our hosts were extremely polite n helpful.
On day 3, we headed towards Thekkady, another must visit location in Kerala.
We enjoyed our time at the elephant camp, where the naughty yet cute elephants will give you a shower:)
Post this, we utilized our time in watching the famous Kalari show, one should not miss as the boys who perform are extremely talented n it's definitely a value for money to see such talent in our own country.
When in Kerala, how can one miss their famous ayurvedic massages... Spent the even rejuvenating ourselves by taking the traditional massage.
As our trip was for 10 days, we decided to explore the nearby parts of Tamil Nadu as well, so we headed towards Madurai to visit the famous Meenakshi Temple.
It was a 3 hours journey from Thekkady to Madurai and upon our arrival, we visited a few famous churches in the afternoon along with Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace, as the temple remains closed then and in the evening we visited the temple.
Unfortunately, u cannot take pictures inside the temple and u need to submit your phones in the cloakroom.
Today we headed towards the famous hill station, Kodaikanal, on our way we stopped at the silver cascade waterfalls.
The weather was slightly on the colder side but it was pleasant, we rested the first day n spent the next day in covering the beautiful town.
We visited places like the dolphin's nose (more of a trekking destination), the coakers walk, the pine tree forests, the pillar rocks etc.
After spending 2 days in the beautiful hill station of Kodaikanal, we headed towards, Munnar, which truly defines the meaning of God's own country.
The views on our way from one hill station to the other are mesmerizing.
On our way to Munnar, we visited the tea plantations which makes the place look a lot more green n beautiful.
Our second day in Munnar, was full of adventure n eye-catching views. We started the day by exploring Anachal, by jeep followed by visiting the famous tea museum to see how tea is prepared. We then visited the mattupetty dam n later on, the beautiful rose garden.
We then headed towards Kochi, which was our final destination in Kerala
On our way, we covered the spice plantation n picked some homemade chocolates.
Later on, we visited the famous churches in Kochi n finished our day at fort Kochi.
