A Day in Madurai

Madurai (Tamil: மதுரை), formerly Madura, is the third-largest city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It's on the banks of the river Vaigai, and has been a major settlement for two millennia. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. The city was the capital of the Pandyan kingdom was at Korkai, around 600 BCE, and was moved to Koodal (present-day Madurai) during the reign of Nedunj Cheliyan 

We visited madurai after our 2 day stay at kodaikanal

We took a bus from kodaikanal at around 10am and reached around 1pm

After having lunch we started to explore these three places

1. Gandhi memorial museum

2. Thirumalai Nayyakar palace

3. Meenakshi amman temple

Gandhi memorial museum -Gandhi Memorial Museum, established in 1959, is a memorial museum for Gandhi  located in the city of Madurai in Tamil Nadu, India. Known as Gandhi Museum, it is now one of the five Gandhi Sanghralayas (Gandhi Museums) in the country. It includes a part of the blood-stained garment worn by Gandhi when he was assassinated by Nathuram Godse .

Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace- The palace where the famous song "kehna he kya" was shot

Thirumalai Nayak Palace is a 17th-century palace erected in 1636 AD by King Tirumala Nayaka, a king of Madurai's Nayaka dynasty who ruled Madurai from 1623–59, in the city of Madurai, India. This Palace is a classic fusion of Dravidian and Rajput styles

Meenakshi Amman Temple-
One should visit this place definitely cause of the positive Vibes this place has to offer!

The historic Meenakshi Amman temple is located on the southern bank of the Vaigai River, Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Built sometime between the year 1623 and 1655, the wonderful architecture of the place is renowned globally. Meenakshi Temple is primarily dedicated to Parvati, known as Meenakshi, and her spouse, Shiva. What makes this temple different from the others is the fact that both God and Goddess are worshipped together.
