Day 1

On 22nd October 2021 morning at 10 we checked out hotel Tanishq, Nasik for Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh and reached in the evening at 6' o clock. Checked in hotel Chaitanya and rested.
Today on 23rd at 10 AM went Narmada river ghat by auto at Rs 80/-.
Narmada Ghat is an off beat destination in Maheshwar town surrounded by lush green environment. It is built in 18th century by  Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar. When we visited the Narmada Ghat, ghat was crowded with devotees, some devotees were taking holy bath in the river. The view of the river from this Ghat is breathtaking. Since it flows through the entire state, Narmada holds an inseparable position in the hearts of the people of Madhya Pradesh. Narmada Ghat is a sacred part of Maheshwar. Though crowded, ghat is beautiful, pleasant and very clean.
You can see Maheshwar fort  on the banks of river Narmada and it looks beautiful from the banks. The ghat, the fort as well as Kashi Vishwanath temple, Rajrajeshwar temple and Ahilyeshwar temple are the favourite tourist attractions in Maheshwar. Many bollywood movies are shot here. Today also some shooting was going on.
We feed fish on the banks, then did boating (family boat ride for 15-20 minutes at Rs. 500/-),  my daughter enjoyed remote car driving on the ghat road. Then we went to take darshan of Kashi Vishwanath temple. Kashi Vishwanath temple is built by Punyashlok Ahilyabai Holkar in 1786.  It is a beautiful temple built in marble. You can have a beautiful look of Narmada Ghat from this temple.  It is a holy place, good for meditation.
Then we went to Shri Raj Rajeshwar Temple which lights 11 lamps (AKHAND DEEPAK) since many centuries said to be forever.  You can see 7 lamps directly and 4 in the mirror.  When we visited this temple, aarti was going on, we felt very blessed and peaceful. In this temple complex there are other temples of ShriRam, Surynarayan, Laxmi, Saraswati, Sahastrarjun, Ganapati etc. Then we went to Ahilyeshwar Mahadev mandir, also built by Holkars.  The temple is a shivalay with great stone sculptures.  Pillars have carvings of dashavtar. We spent half an hour here.
Then we went to visit Palace (Rajwada) - The palace - rajwada inside the fort is a must visit place in Maheshwar. This is the area where Ahilyabai used to sit for administration. There is a Raj gadi and a sitting statue of Rajmata Ahilyabai Holkar and collection of lot of things used by her.  All the god and goddess, used by Ahilyabai for her daily worship are preserved in a room in Rajwada. There is also a swing of gold (golden zhula) in the worship place. In front of rajwada, a huge statue of  Punyashlok Ahilyabai is there, which is 13 feet high and made up of metal.
The fort is the best example of ancient Indian construction. There are five main entrances also has a five feet wide footpath to supervise the area around it.
It took two and half hour for visiting all this, then we had special riceplate at Labboo ki Gadi at the exit gate, cost Rs 210/- . Then by auto came back to hotel at Rs 80/-
Other places to visit in Maheshwar are Kaleshwar temple, Jaleshwar temple, Shiv Datta Dham, Sahastradhara, Tana Bana Maheshwari Handloom etc.
