Jal Mahal Palace Jaipur is one of the most alluring architectural palace that was built with the Rajput and Mughal craftsmanship. The Palace provides a charming view of the Man Sagar Lake and Nahargarh hills that surround it.

Jal Mahal also known as the “Water Palace” is located in the middle of Man Sagar Lake in the Pink City. The Jal Mahal Palace is 5 story high and is completely made of red stone. Four floors of the palace stay under the water and only one is visible.
There are four chattris on all four corners of the palace that are in octagonal shape. The palace has some of the exquisite marble cravings which denotes the royal touch and there are two pillars in the palace which are the cenotaph of the royal family of Maharaja Jai Singh. Jal Mahal palace and the lake was renovated by Maharaja Jai Singh 2 in 18th century.

Jal Mahal palace is open only through boats that takes tourists from land to the palace at the center. The lake was the favorite ground for Rajput Kings of Jaipur for royal duck shooting parties during their picnics.

Jal Mahal Jaipur was home for more than 100 species of local and migratory birds including Flamingo, Pintain, Coot, Ruff, Red-breasted flycatcher etc but their number declined with the worsening of the lake.

Visitors can also row to palace on specially procured boats but no one can stay in the palace, visitors are allowed to admire extensive art and craft, if the natural charm of water and birds, and the majestic monuments fail to entice them. A rooftop garden named Chameli Bagh combines the city art tradition with fragment flowering trees ideal for summer evenings.

Best time to visit the beautiful Jal Mahal Palace in Jaipur is October to March. After restoration Jal Mahal Palace will also be the first Hotel on a Lake in Jaipur.
