However, these cascading beauties of MP are in full swing during the monsoon season as the heavy downpour fills the waterfalls to the brim.

1. Dhuandhar Falls

Dhuandhar is one of the most famous waterfalls in Madhya Pradesh. It is located on the Narmada River in Bhedaghat and is 30 meters high. 

The Narmada River, making its way through the world-famous Marble Rocks, narrows down and plunges in a waterfall known as Dhuandhar. 

During the monsoon, the waters of the Narmada River become turbulent, which results in the cascading nature of Dhuandhar falls.

Recently, Bhedaghat-Lametaghat in Narmada valley has been added to the tentative list of World Heritage sites.

2. Bahuti Falls, Rewa

The highest waterfall of MP, Bahuti Falls, is located in Rewa District. It has a height of 198 m. 

The Bahuti falls sets an example of a nick point caused by rejuvenation. It is on the river Sellar as it rushes down the edge of the Valley of Mauganj to join the Bihad River, which is a tributary of Tamsa or Tons River.

Raneh Falls is an exquisite waterfall formed by River Ken running over one of the oldest rocks on earth, the Vindhya basalt. 

The falls are named after King Rane Pratap, the erstwhile ruler of the region. The main attraction here is the Canyon of crystalline granite 5km long and 100ft deep.

4. Chachai Falls

It is the second-highest among the waterfalls in Madhya Pradesh. The Chachai waterfall has a height of 400 feet. 

The Chachai Falls is on the Beehad River, a tributary of Tamsa or Tons River as it comes down from the Rewa Plateau. 

The waterfall is hugely famous among tourists because of its presence on the Chitrakoot hills. 

These hills hold a great mythological and religious significance. The waterfall emerges into its full bloom during the monsoon season.

5. Patal Pani Falls

Patalpani Falls is one of the most visited waterfalls in Madhya Pradesh, and its proximity to Indore makes it a popular weekend getaway spot for people looking for quick escapes from their city life.

It has an approximate 91 meters (300 ft) height. It is on the Choral River. It goes almost dry in the summer season, and the stream is reduced to a trickle.

Keoti Falls is a continuation of the Bahuti Falls, a tourist preference among the many waterfalls in Madhya Pradesh.

Keoti fall is 46 km from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. 

You can travel to this amazing place by hiring a cab or you can travel by local transportation. 

Traveling by cab is the best option.

7. Rajat Prapat

Rajat Prapat waterfalls in Madhya Pradesh are also known as silver fall. This horse-tail-type waterfall is 351 ft high. 

The waterfall is the 30th highest waterfall in the country. When sunlight falls on it, it shines like silver, that is why it is known as Rajat Prapat or Silver Fall. In Hindi, ‘Rajat means silver and ‘prapat’ means falls. 

It takes a small trek over the rocks and boulders from Apsara Vihar near Pachmarhi to reach Rajat Prapat.

8. Tincha Falls

It is only 25 km from Rewa. The falls can easily be reached from two points, Satna and Rewa from the private taxi.

Tips to be remembered:

1. Bathing and swimming activities in the falls are very risky during the monsoon. You should be careful. You must follow the safety instructions of the authorities.

2. Some of the waterfalls are located in remote areas. You should carry your own food and water.

3. Try to take full clothes and comfortable shoes that are good for trekking, and also take an umbrella or raincoats.

4. The top of any waterfall is the most dangerous. Do not lean over a ledge at the top of a falls.

5. Be especially careful when taking pictures. Make sure you are in a safe, solid location before snapping your shot.
