Lansdowne: A Cantonment Town

Lansdowne is one of the most popular hill station of Uttarakhand. It's a cantonment town which was founded by Lord Dalhousie, Viceroy of India in 1887. During British period, this place was used as a Recruits Training center of the Garwhal Rifles. Now, the command office of Garhwal Rifles of the Indian Army is based here. 

Lansdowne is well connected with roads. The view of the mountains and the roads among the alpine forest leave a perennial impact on the traveler. The environment is immaculate. The place offers a serene atmosphere and it is a perfect weekend getaway from all the hustle and bustle of the city. October is the best time to visit the place. One could hear the chirping of the birds from the hotel room.
