Our first trip abroad. After searching for all available packages online, decided to travel on our own. Biggest advantage was visa on arrival to Indian passport holders. We decided to split the stay in Kuta & Seminyak. First 5 days were dedicated to cover as many places as possible with Kuta as base, so that our days in Seminyak can be spent relaxing. Being a vegetarian, I had to choose hotels within walking distances of Indian restaurants. For local sightseeing we booked full day taxis to travel at our own sweet pace. They come with English speaking guide / driver who will accompany you to every attraction.
We reached late afternoon & headed straight to Kuta beach after check-in at the Hotel. Sunset in Bali is a valuable commodity & my entire itinerary was planned around it.
Our first day of sightseeing & we were ready to explore. Our first destination Goa Gajah.
Next stop was Sacred Monkey Forest. Can also be called scared tourist forest! We saw monkeys snatching water bottles, bananas & even scratching a few kids. But would still recommend to take a stroll in this mini sanctuary.
Bali weather is unpredictable & rain clouds appeared even in 'dry season' by the time we reached. Farmers have taken advantage of the tourist frenzy & added their own tolls on the way to top of the hill. Tips: Do wear comfortable shoes to hike in the fields. Later, had our lunch at a restaurant near the rice terrace. Only vegetarian dish they served was fried rice but the view was just awesome.
A short pit stop at viewpoint of Kintamani Volcano. Considerable drop in temperature makes a point for leisure walk.
Third day of sightseeing & this time we headed to South Bali. Nusa Dua area has some high end resorts & a shopping complex, which according to us is an avoid. Tip: Do check the high tide timings before visiting Water's Blow.
Pantai Pandawa gets the name from statues of Pandava brothers in the hill onlooking the beach. Kayaking in the clear waters of this beach is recommended.
This one's a hidden treasure. Few minutes away from the crowded Pantai Pandawa, lies this secluded paradise. Beware of the monkeys on the beach, they will grab things from your bag & disappear in the trees. Also keep in mind the numerous steps to climb back to the cliff top parking, so do carry water with you. There are 2 caves on the beach & can provide some respite on a hot sunny day!
We were racing against the sunset to reach Uluwatu Temple. Had to click pictures from the cliff before the light dies.
Kecak Dance was one performance I was most looking forward to. As a Hindu, I knew the stories of Ramayana but this was a totally new experience.
Another great place for Sunset gazing is Rock Bar. A pricey place but definitely worth for the location & ambience. Tip: Leave early as there are 2 queues to enter. Guests staying in Ayana resort get precedence over outsiders.
Lake Temple was the farthest attraction from our Hotel. Roads leading to the temple pass through villages as we moved uphill.
Once again we chose a restaurant with great views of the rice terrace & only fried rice as the vegetarian option.
This temple is accessible only in low tide. A beautiful sunset awaits you here. Most iconic of all places in Bali hence the most crowded.
Friends from Australia joined in tonight & we headed to the best place to party in Bali. There till 4 A.M. & it was fun!
Today we switched from Kuta to Seminyak. Spent entire day lazing around.

Time to fly back home. What a wonderful trip this has been. The warmth & hospitality of Balinese people is just amazing. This tiny island is a different world in itself & has something to offer to everyone. I am definitely coming back.
