FirstStop: Darjeeling, a picturesque town nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas. We started our trip with a visit to the famous Tiger Hill where we witnessed the most breathtaking sunrise, shades of pink and orange hues spreading across the sky like a painting.
Next, we explored the world famous tea gardens of Darjeeling on a guided tour and sipped on freshly brewed tea while capturing the magnificent view of the hills. I also visited the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and learned about the fascinating history of mountaineering
Then we made our way to Kurseong, another charming hill station situated about 30 mins away from Darjeeling. We had the most scenic train ride on the famous Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Our first stop was the Eagle’s Craig viewpoint, where we witnessed the sweeping views of the majestic mountains and the lush green valleys. We also visited the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Museum, which had an impressive display of rare artefacts related to the Indian freedom struggle.
Kurseong is also known for its delicious cuisine, and we had a chance to sample some local delicacies. Some of our favourites included steaming hot momos, thukpa, and shapta.
Conclusion: Overall, the trip was an unforgettable experience. We experienced stunning scenery, visited historical sites, and enjoyed the local food. I would highly recommend Darjeeling and Kurseong to anyone looking to escape the city and be surrounded by the beauty of nature.
