Kumarakom is a small beautiful village located on the banks of the Vembanad Lake. The village is surrounded by beautiful backwaters and is known for its natural beauty. The place boasts luxurious resorts located amidst the backwater and green landscapes. 
My husband and I chose to celebrate our honeymoon at Kumarakom. We saved ourselves from all the flight travel and got ourselves a 3 night's stay in one of the best 5-star resorts in Kerala- Kumarakom Lake Resort.
The resort hosts a proper Indian traditional style welcome with a decorated thali (plate) and a lit Diya (lamp). The resort reminds you of old traditional palaces and houses in Kerala. The interiors and the structure are a blend of old enriched traditional architecture along with modern amenities. 
Our meandering pool villa was beautifully decorated with rose petals, towel art and a nice chocolate cake wishing us a good honeymoon. It was love at first sight! 
1. Go for a walk - Go for a long walk and explore the property. There are hammocks and benches laid out for you to experience the beautiful backwaters. Spend some time outdoors and just relax and enjoy the scenic view while resting in a hammock.
2. Outdoor lake activities - There are a lot of activities arranged for the guests in the resort. Activities include houseboat tour, speed boat tour, sunset cruise, backwater cruise etc.
3. Food - Oh! The food! It was simply delicious. Do not miss out on their breakfast. The widespread of breakfast options is to die for. Right from south Indian to continental to north Indian is simply AA-MAZING! You ask for a breakfast dish and they will have it. The servers are extremely polite and helpful. Enjoy the authentic taste of Kerala food and especially the seafood.
4. Enjoy the swimming pool - We booked the meandering pool villa and could be found spending time by the pool with a glass of wine. Just order a bottle of wine and some room service and you are good to go. 
There are a lot of things to do while you are at Kumarakom Lake Resort. But most of all make sure you enjoy the natural scenic beauty and just relax. Kumarakom Lake Resort is definitely a must visit when in Kerala. You will find all of Kerala and its beauty in this place. A perfect place for families and couples.
The place is a little expensive but it is definitely worth it. Next time you are in Kerala, make sure you plan a stay at Kumarakom Lake Resort.
