Also known as City of Spices, Calicut has a rich history. Vasco da Gama, the Portuguese navigator, is thought to have anchored in Kozhikode in 1498, establishing a trade route from Europe to Malabar.

Popular tourist spots include:

Kozhikode Beach, Beypore Beach and Kappad Beach, which was one of the cleanest and well maintained beach in India that I've been to, are popular tourist destinations.

Stay:

We chose to stay at the Raviz Kadavu after doing much research online, and it was a fantastic choice! Despite the property's age and care concerns, the view is breathtaking. The pool is easily accessible and breakfast spread is good.

Transport is quite a challenge in Calicut, you really need to rely on the autos and have to bargain. The Kozhikode airport is still being maintained by AAI and really needs improvement.
