About my experience
In this trip, three of my friends was along with me. We started our journey at 7 am.We picked direct bus from kundara bus stand to Munroe island. It took 1.30 hour to get there . Basically it was a sudden plan,so we didn't know how to reach and where we get a boat to travel. We had very limited source of information regarding transporation ,food and stay facilities. When we get off the bus ,there was a small tea shop next to bus stop.we had a kulukki surbath (lemon juice) from there. Luckily, The tea shop owner owns a country boat and se we decided to explore the place in his boat. The boat charge was about 140 rupees per person for one hour and it was comaparitively lesser than other private boat services. The boat was shaking when we get into it.
It was a terrible sunny day. The lakes were full of ducks. Munroe is filled with mangroves and lagoons.we went through the spaces between mangrooves. There was no depth among the mangroves so we went down there.Mangrooves are considered as the gate way of munroe island.
There was a small home stay in the shore of lagoon. It is a calm -nature friendly place. The Whole furnitures in that house were made of woods.
We saw a small teashop in the shore of lake .We spent 30minutes there by clicking photos, talking with the villagers and the scenery from that point was awesome. We came back to boat and continued our journey to the coast we get off. This place will be comfortable for travellers during morning or evening time.
