Kolkata has come of age. From a city that swore by street side eateries, Kolkata has now quite a few impressive places that sell global cuisines. What was most sought after was a cool cocktail place. With its young crowd gone global, finding a great place that serves amazing drinks now gets easier. Amongst many new experiential places opening their doors in the post covid era, Trapeze at Park Street is a significant one.
Based on the concept of circus, Trapeze has been designed by Susane Khan. They have tried to maintain a balance between the food, drink, ambience and aesthetics. Just like a good trapeze artist who knows his art, Trapeze excels in the art of cocktail.
On a lazy weekday afternoon if you decide to walk in, just feel free to tell the mixologist your mood and tada - you can get exactly the drink you are looking for.
How to reach
If you are taking the metro, get down at the Park Street metro station and walk for five minutes. Located at Russell Street, Trapeze is exactly the kind of bar you look for during the middle of the week to blow off some steam.
What to drink?
While there are the regular wines, both homegrow as well as the imported ones, trust me, go for the cocktails. If you are a fan of LIIT, try the Trapeze version of that - Ballygunge Iced Tea. Added to it is mixologist's own twist with dark rum and coke. The patrons of classic cocktails can go for Bramble Fizz - a twist on a classic old fashioned with Scotch and Maple smoked in bitters and cherry wood. Gondhoraj has been doing rounds across reels for everything green in the city. But Trapeze Spritzer is a personal favourite of mine. A vodka based cocktail with Gondhoraj and pineapple juice, this spritzer wouldn't give you the cringe that reels have. Rather the smoothness of concoction hits you at the right notes.
Finger Foods
The drinks will keep flooding your table. Meanwhile, try some delicious starters. From mini kulchas with cheese truffles to gondhoraj marinated bhetki to beer batter basa fish - get high on gluttony. Don't miss the lamb roll dimsum and chicken basil dumpling. If you ask me what's that one thing that makes Trapeze stand out in the Park Street area - my answer would be balance. The sheer balance in terms of taste, flavour, and of course the design aesthetic make this place a not-to-be-missed tag when you are in Kolkata.
