Khajuraho, one of the most famous destinations in Madhya Pradesh, is known for its erotic sculptures. This is one place which you cannot skip when planning your MP tour. Khajuraho, is a world-renowned UNESCO World Heritage site, derives its name from the word ‘Khajur’ which is the common date palm available in India. Built by the Chandela Empire, the construction of the temple began in 10th Century and continued till the 12th century. Till then 80 temples was built.
As per the researchers, the temples are a testament to the time of artistic and spiritual enlightenment. The temples are also living evidence of the broad ideologies. Khajuraho is known for its group of Hindu and Jain temples. But Khajuraho is not confined to temples only there are many other places to see which are untouched.

1. Take A Tour Of Temples: The cluster of temples which is known for its erotic sculpture is located in Vindhya mountain range. The temples are divided into western, eastern and southern groups. The temple complex had 64 water bodies out of which 56 have been identified by archeologists. The erotic sculptures are representation of love and passion. They are carved in manner of acrobatic poses and aims to represent fertility and happiness. All temples, except Chaturbhuja temple faces sunrise.
2. Raneh Falls (Grand Canyon): Located at a distance of 22km from Khajuraho, Raneh Falls also known as Grand Canyon is named after King Rane Pratap. The Grand Canyon of America is very famous but very few people know that India also has its own Grand Canyon. This canyon was formed due to volcanic eruptions. The volcano is 150 feet deep which is filled with river Ken. The river is flowing through this canyon, enroute to Yamuna, forming a natural Waterfall. And during monsoon, the canyon is not visible and the falls is compared to Niagara falls
3. Ken Gharial Sanctuary: One of the popular place in Khajuraho, this wildlife sanctuary is found near Panna National Park. The Ken Gharial sanctuary is an ideal place for nature lovers and trekkers. Home to Gharials, the sanctuary falls into the route of the river Ken. Wolf, Chinkara, Spotted Deer, Nilgai, and Sloth Bear can also be spot here. The sanctuary is at a distance of 20 kilometers from Khajuraho bus stand.
4. Panna Tiger Reserve: Nestled in Central India, Panna National Park has won the Award of Excellence. Today, the park is popular among nature lovers travelling from across the globe. The tourists coming here are excited to see tiger while spotting the species including Sloth Bear Pangolin, Indian Wolf, Four-Horned Antelope, Leopard, Rusty Spotted Cat, Gharial, Chousingha, Indian Fox, Porcupine and a lot more. Tourists here get the opportunity to indulge in the Jungle Safari. Nature lovers here can experience the dense ambience and encounter the wildest ranges of mammals, reptiles, birds, flora, fauna and avifauna.
