The festival is starting on a colourful note, quite literally!

With 26 acres of land covered in yellow and orange blooms, marigold cultivation has been attracting tourists from all across the state to this otherwise rather sleepy town. Get ready to say hello to flowery carpets for Onam this year as locals in the Kattakkada constituency are relying on locally grown marigold flowers to liven up their celebrations!

As per news, the grandiose project of ‘ente Nadu ente Onam’ has allowed the constituency to use 50 acres of land for flower cultivation. The Panchayat has given permission and actively supervised the venture. In fact, it has also offered employment to around 250 workers.

Thanks to flower cultivation, the previously unused wasteland in Pallichal grama Panchayat is now beaming with vivid colours. This project is a true testament to the power of togetherness. With its unique blend of flora and culture, it isn't just locals who are taking advantage of this scenic spot. Tourists from across Kerala have also been flocking to the twelfth ward of Pallichal grama Panchayat to have a glimpse of this flowering paradise.

This year, Onam is starting on 20th August and ending on 31st August. Though usually Keralites depend on neighbouring states such as Karnataka and Tamil Nadu for flowers for making floral carpets during Onam, this time, it looks like they have an alternative in the marigold fields of the Pallichal panchayat.

Everyone involved in the project feels proud to have done their part to make the region's Onam celebration all the more special and unique. So if you want to experience good ol' Onam vibes, head off to the marigold fields of Kattakkada and be mesmerised by this wonderful sight!
