We all keep running around the clock, everyday we explore our explored office again and again, all working towards an ultimate goal counting on the number of days for the weekend . While you guys were counting we planned a perfect weekend getaway to Munnar.
We took off earlier at 5 in the morning to reach soon. Fueled our wheels and started to drive. We reached udumalpet at sunrise and we stepped into our first destination.
1. Chinnar wildlife sanctuary
Chinnar wildlife sanctuary is the home for giant squirrels, indian gaurs, langurs and many species of birds. These hill roads were the deadliest ones I've ever ridden in my life. It was steep and narrow. It was at intense heat and drought due to summer.
2. Marayoor
We reached marayoor it was chill and full of purple blossoms all the way. Tea cultivations and blossoms was indeed a great sight to watch. Then we left for munnar via eravikulam national park and lakkam falls.
3. Munnar
We reached munnar and watched the tea fields around and headed to the tea museum. The people around there demonstrated the cultivation and harvesting process. All you chai (tea) lovers out there, your're gonna love them. Then we headed to mattupetty dam and visited echo point. We spotted some lion tailed macaques and hornbills along the way.
4. Pothamedu view point
We reached pothamedu view point and pulled off for a break looking at these breathtaking landscapes. Then we moved to anachal via sengulam dam.
5. Anachal
We pre booked our stay in oyo. KVJ homes at anachal. A private home opposite to sengulam dam. We had a hammock and a balcony to relax. After a refreshment we went for a speed boating at sengulum dam. Drifting in the speed boats around sengulum dam was the thriller of the day. You can book a jeep safari around the hills too. Boating closes at 5 p.m so better be quicker.
Cost for speed boating : : Rs. 900/- per boat (max no. of persons - 5)
6. A night to remember
Glancing the stars at night we had a fire camp and a bottle of wine to tell crazy stories all night.
7. Off to munnar
After a morning jog in the woods at anachal and a hot served black coffee at KVJ homes, we rode to munnar. We had our lunch at Rapsy restaurant (perfect for foreigners they speak many languages including spanish, french).
Must try : Beef , Briyani
Then we shopped spices and tea powders at different flavours at the bazaars. They have ginger, chocolate tea, spicy masala flavored tea, pure coffee, silver tip, oolong etc..,
Leaving munnar has really hard. We promised to visit again during monsoon and we descended munnar hills all the way to coimbatore.
