Duration of the Trip: It was a trip of 10 hours by bus & 12 hours by train from Bangalore.
Transportation: We travelled through train from Bangalore to Ernakulam and back to Bangalore. We had board bus from Bangalore City bus station at 8:15 pm on Friday and reached Ernakulam bus station next morning at 7:25 am.
For returning back to Bangalore, we had board the train i.e. Ernakulam Express , at 4:25 pm at Wednesday from Ernakulam station and reached Bangalore at 6:55 am next morning.
Ticket cost Rs 272/- for Sleeper classes, Rs 735/- for 3 tiers AC and Rs 1008/- for 2 tiers AC for each.
We hired a bolero traveller for taking us to Munnar, going for sightseeing and bringing back to Ernakulam for Rs 7000/-.
The trip was great , Loved the places, climate, people. It's became one of my favorite places to visit again .
Day 1: We reached Munnar by 2’o clock in the afternoon and checked in to Black Forest, the hotel cum resort we had booked in advance.

As it was quite late by the time we got settled and the resort was far away from the main city, we decided not to go anywhere that day.
Day 2: After having the breakfast in the restaurant of the resort, we started for sightseeing around 8:30 am. The places we visited were Kallar Brigde. , too near by our resort , Cheeyappara waterfalls lie on the Kochi Madurai highway between and Adimali in Idukki district. It is around 40 km away from Munnar. The water here cascades down in seven steps, which is a delightful sight. This place is also famous for trekking. The Cheeyapara waterfalls is situated approximately 1000 feet's above the sea level. Pothamedu View Point -Set amidst wonderful tea and coffee plantations, the Pothamedu View Point is a fantastic tourist destination offering a brilliant panoramic view of the heavenly Munnar. The View Point is the popular spot for trekking, hiking and nature exploration. The weather remains exceptionally pleasant and charming sceneries all over make the place stand out for picnic and relaxation . One can have a spectacular view of the Idukki Arch Dam, which lies 60 kilometers away from Munnar. A great place to enjoy lush greenery and savor some great clicks, the Pothamedu View Point is a treasure flanking the hills of Munnar , also this place is shooted in the movie Chennai Express of King Khan i.e SRK.
Kalakshetra in South Chithipuram.Punarjani Traditional Village 2nd Mile Pallivasal, Munnar .They have started Kathakali and Kalarippayattu daily shows at 2nd mile, Munnar. This is a combination of two traditional style theatres for Kalarippayattu and kathakali. The aim is to nurture the tradition and preserve their cultural heritage . They were doing genuine shows and our artists are well trained. The vision is to establish theatres all over the world for both these Kerala art foms. Kalarippayattu is the “Mother of all martial arts” and “Kathakali” is the king of all performing arts.
Day 3: Floriculture Centre is a garden under the management of the Floricultural Division of Kerala Forest Development Corporation. An entry fee of Rs 15 per head and Rs 20 per still camera is worth every penny. Hundreds of species of flowers, decorative & medicinal plants, orchids and cactus were on display. A botanist could easily spend a day out there.Photo Point is a small place filled with woods and a small stream. Good place to take photos.Mattupetti Dam, this popular picnic spot activities like boating and horse riding and is a great place to spend the day the specially if visiting with children.
Echo Point on the way to top station from Munnar is a small lake set amidst rolling hills. Every loud call made from a spot on the lake embankment is returned manifold by the echo from the surrounding hills. Young tourists throng to this place to listen to the echoes of their friendship calls.
Kundala Lake is very beautiful amidst lush jungles. Hiring a pedal boat and exploring the lake and its surroundings is an awesome experience. Except at the place you hired the boat, don't expect to find humans around the lake as it is surrounded by scenic jungles and hills. Unless you know how to row a boat, prefer a pedal boat, each trip lasts around 30 min and will be closed at 4:30PM. It is one of the important places to visit in Munnar and is home to the best golf course in Munnar and one of the best golf courses in Kerala. Though the golf course is owned by the Tata tea company tourists are seen playing golf here. There is a dam adjoin to the Lake.
We had our lunch in a restaurant in the Munnar market and did some shopping. Munnar is famous for Tea, coffee, homemade chocolates and spices.
Top Station (37 km from Munnar on the Kerala and Tamil Nadu border). Great views of the Western Ghats. Top station is the "top"-tourist attraction. This place gives a real 'above the clouds' experience. Regular buses go to Top Station (1 hr) from Munnar. A jeep costs Rs 400. The area is known for the Neelakurunji plant, which flowers only once every 12 years. The flower is violet. Kolukkamalai Tea Estate is one of the most famous tea factories in Munnar as it is located at a height of 7130 feet above sea level. This tea factory is a favourite tourist destination in Munnar as one can have a majestic view of the Western Ghats from the tea factory premises.
Day 4 : Anamudi Peak inside Eravikulam National Park , The highest peak (2,695 m) south of the Himalayas, towers over the sanctuary in majestic pride. The slopes of the hills abound in all kinds of rare flora and fauna. The Atlas moth, the largest of its kind in the world, is a unique inhabitant of the park. Other rare species of fauna found here are the Nilgiri Langur, the lion-tailed macaque, leopards, tigers. An ideal place for trekking, facilities are provided here and tourists are allowed to go on foot up to 2 kms from Anamudi. Going up to the peak is no longer permissible unless you have special permissions from forest department.
