Kerala also known as 'GOD'S OWN COUNTRY' is absolutely tantalising. Words are not enough to describe the beauty. I was dying to visit Kerala since a long time and finally got a chance. I was excited and curious for this trip. Finally when I reached there from the time I have stepped out of the airport till the last moment, this place has startled me. Not only the outside and scenic beauty but the beauty inside the people's heart has won my heart. Like our driver, he was so good, he treated us like family and tried his level best and made sure we get best of everything. He bought special samosa, vadas and ladoos of Kerala for us. I have been to many places in India but haven't seen such humble and generous people. Such simplicity and true to their roots. Kerala is a combination of everything, Greenery all around, cleanliness, you actually feel like you are in heaven. Not even for a minute that beauty will get aside. How can i forget about the food. Ahhh South Indian food. You will get best of dosas, fish, prawns and what not. But please don't have anything made in coconut oil, i really had very bad experience after having banana chips made from it. And not to forget filter coffee. I had it every single day. Kerala has also got amazing natural beauty products.I did a lot of shopping also. All in all it was one of my best trips and has given me lots of memories. It has also changed my mindset in someway. It actually happens when you see different cultures and places and interact with them. It has actually changed my view towards other different cultures.
Munnar is around 130 kms away from kochi and we went straight to munnar from kochi airport. It took at around 3hrs to reach. Munnar is a hill station with absolutely amazing Scenic beauty. If you want peace, its the place to be. You will not find any particular tourist place to visit except view points. rose gardens, tea estate, etc. But the beauty is to die for.
Thekkady is around 87 kms from Munnar. Its famous for coffee and spice plantation. I some how loved this place. Its quite lively as compared to other places. There are many things to do in Thekkady. We went to see kathakali dance show in the evening and also jungle safari which was amazing. Then next day we went to Perriyar forest walk and boating. It was beautiful. We also went for elephant ride which was truly amazing experience.
Alleppey is 149 kms away from Thekkady. It took around 4 hours. It was very hot and humid in Alleppey. Other places were cold. As alleppey is famous for Backwaters, we went there for boating. We also went to Alappuzha beach. It was our best experience. Its a must if you visit alleppey. There are also few cafes to sit and chill and have pineapple juice. There are also markets to shop traditional sarees or natural face products or traditional tea and coffee.
While going back on our last day we thought of exploring kochi as well. And as kochi is a big and developed city we didn't expect something other than any another city. But it surprised us. From beautiful churches vasco da gama (oldest church) , museums , kochi beach , cute little cafes and pretty lanes. I just loved it. It definitely is heart of kerala.
