Day 1

In February 2015,it was our first wedding anniversary.. We wanted it to be special.. What can be more romantic than the lush green countryside, boat-ride in backwaters, wildlife safaris and a night stay in tree house surrounded by baat spice gardens..Yes, it can be only KERALA- truly said GOD'S OWN
COUNTRY..
When we took off from Delhi, the view was filled with few scattered trees surrounded by tall buildings... But as we were over Kerala...the view was completely opposite.. Inbetween the mighty trees and vast forest lands, you can find few buildings hanging around...
This was a refreshing site to witness and a good start to this wonderful journey..

We landed in Kochi..Stayed there for the first night, visited Kochi fort and beaches that day and had a romantic candle light dinner..

Next morning we left for Alleppey.. We took a Shikara ride in back waters for 3-4 hours.. It was a beautiful site to witness..However far we  stretched your site, only thing we saw was huge coconut and palm trees on the bank and small beautiful cottages in between them.. The only feeling at that moment was how much will it cost to buy a house there..😀😀😍😍
People used boats to get supplies as there was no other source.. In between the back- waters was a small restaurant where we had lunch..
There was even a pet falcon and we got to hold it..

Next,we left from there and headed for night stay in Periyar Tiger reserve.. We had booked a room in government guest house inside.. Staying inside a national park is a experience in itself.. Though I had previously stayed inside a forest number of times before, but every time feels like a new one..Each forest has something different to offer..
We took a ticket for night walk in the forest..
After dinner, we walked to the main gate where we were accompanied by 4 other people and a guide and headed for trek..
This was a new experience.. I had never trekked before at pitch dark night inside a tiger reserve.. It was really frightening but exciting too at the same time.. Huge adrenaline rush..
We didn't sight a tiger though which maybe a goodthing I guess😉😉😉

Next morning, we had a boat safari in Periyar water which passes through deep Periyar reserve.. During summers, animals are usually found on the banks drinking water.. We did see few species though but not a big predator..

After the ride, we had breakfast ,checked out of the guest house and left the reserve..
Kerala is well known for its Ayurvedic massages..We did take one just outside the reserve.. It was damm relaxing ..The aroma of ayurveda relaxes each nerve of your body.

After the massage, we headed for Munnar.. There we stayed in Carmelia Haven. It is a resort circled by vast spice and tea gardens.. All kind of spices were present there.. Cardamom,Carom, black pepper, etc.. We had reserved a tree house in it..Our tree house was a sole surviver amist thick dense vegetation..
We spend the rest of the day in the resort taking a tour to the spice gardens.. had dinner near the bonfire..And went back to our room.

Next morning we woke up to the sound of birds.. We had a good breakfast and left for Kochi.. Had a return flight same night for Delhi..

Couldn't have planned a better first anniversary...We flew back with refreshing and green memories
