Hola to all the people itching for a weekend getaway from Bangalore! If you want to immerse yourself in the beauty of the backwaters of Kerala with lush greenery and idyllic landscapes, Kumarakom is THE place to be!
How to get there?
We travelled by an overnight bus from Bangalore. Nearest stop is Kottayam and from there you can take a local bus to Kumarakom.
If you want to drive down from Bangalore, it would take approximately 13 hours.
Our Journey and experience:
We arrived at Kottayam around 9am and took a quick stop for breakfast at a nearby restaurant.
Finally arriving at Taj Kumarakom Resort and Spa. They have a beautiful heritage property, with cottages lining a lagoon. The property overlooks the Vembanad Lake, which is the largest lake in India. Each of the cottages are adorned beautifully in a traditional Kerala manner. I had a lovely time at this resort and additionally the Taj hospitality really leaves us in awe and makes sure we stay a loyal customer of Taj.
Activities
There are various options like a sunset boat ride or cycling through the village area. For those who want a romantic experience the resort arranges for a candle lit dinner in the lagoon as well ❤️
We went ahead with a sunset cruise in the backwaters.
