Sualkuchi, the textile center of Assam is situated on the north bank of the river Brahmaputra, about 35 km from Guwahati. It has a large number of cottage industries engaged in handloom.
We got on a ferry to cross the river and got off on the North bank from where we cycled the 25 km to Sualkuchi and had a mighty breakfast by the mighty Brahmaputra. We explored the area, and headed off to a lake a few kilometers away, which was pretty dry this time of the year (February). So we cycled almost right through it, to a grove we could see from the distance.
