Wisely as it says "hills are alive". Hills are part of life. It store and harness water, allow it to flow in the form of river, give a beauty, provide height to waterfall, and accommodate all the floras and faunas of the habitat. Karbi Anglong is one of the only two hill districts of Assam. The hills of Karbi Anglong is providing life to the surrounding areas but the beauty of existence is unknown to most of us. West Karbi Anglong district is created by bifurcating the existing district of Karbi Anglong.
Starting from Diphu I passed through the beautiful road "Silchar-Porbandar East-West corridor". From Lumding to Amsoi the ride is as beautiful as it road.
Taking a turn toward the Nellie-Umlapher Road toward my destination Masladiang, the winding road that curl upon the beautiful hills have retreat my eye with hygienic and fresh air welcoming my visit.
The beauty and unpolluted hills awaited me at the Umswai Valley. The village near Umswai Valley called Sikdamakha have been awarded by Assam Government as one of the cleanest village in Assam. As my destination is toward Masladiang, I kept Sikdamakha for my next trip. The pristine valley of Umswai have encouraged the locals as well as the trekking enthusiasts to explore the beauty of the area. Every year "HELLO AMRI TREKKING TOUR " is organised.
MASLADIANG: A SILENT AND PEACEFUL VILLAGE.
Upon reaching Masladiang, stayed at a very small tourist lodge built by the department of tourism, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council. The location of fetching water is a 400 mtrs walk where the beautiful and natural water flows.
IN AND AROUND MASLADIANG
ARLONG DING DING: A visit to a temple with various metallic sound from the stones. The temple is a 5 km from Masladiang, where a small temple is constructed by the locales as they believed that the stone may have divine power. Most of the medium and big stones inside the temple echoed back with metallic sound upon hitting.
MAA MAN KAMANA MANDIR:
It is also believed that any one visiting this temple with good faith and prayer are not returned empty handed as the Goddess bestow its blessing upon her devotees. As per the locales, Maa Mankamana is the sister of Goddess Maa Kamakhya.
UMRU: THE STOPPAGE PLACE FOR AMUR FALCONS.
6 km from Masladiang, the beautiful village of Umru is situated just bordering Meghalaya. Every years millions of amur falcon take their flight from Amur in Siberia and take three months break at Umru village before leaving for South Africa. These migratory birds earlier stoppage place was called Sabuda but due to excessive hunting made by the localities and people from the neighbouring state have disturbed their resting place and they changed their halt location at Umru. The arrival starts from mid of October stays till the first or second week of December.A beautiful place for ornithologist's delight. Just take your best camera and shoot.
MY OBSERVATION:
The location is best suitable for nature lovers, trekking and nature sight seeing.. Take your tent along with you. The place is a gorkha majority area and are friendly, helpful and will provide all necessary assistance.
