A great adventure in the country of nature

I went to Nepal to help volunteering in a little trekking company (managed through the webpage Worldpackers) and I fell in love with the country and its people. Nepal is a country that lives under the desires of nature, the desires of weather, the nature disasters and of course, the tourism their mountains attract

During my time in Nepal, I spent the first days in Kathmandu absorbing the culture of the local people, visiting its temples and stupas and living the local festivities and habitudes. The non-so spicy food together with their colorful festivities and their calm happiness. The life of the people is driven by the buddhist and hindu religion, and they live it with the unique Asian candor

Day 4

After visiting the capital for a few days, I visited Bhaktapur, an unique, small city with a special charming. There, the wood artisans have decorated their streets and buildings for years. In the city you can also find an small, antique paper factory, in which rooftop you can find generous city views

The next day I had my first contact with the Nepal mountains in Dhulikhel (through their eyes, hills of 1.500m high). Hiking there you can find clear views of the main Nepal mountains, and live the quietness and easiness of the blooming nature. On the way, we visited the biggest Namobuddha buddhist temple. It holds a brightful appearance, full of colors and energy living in harmony with nature

Trekking is about adventure and get over your fears

After that first, exciting approach, I explored with my nepali guide, the possibilities of experience and explore the real mountains in Nepal, the famous 7 thousands and 8 thousands all the world talked about (I did all the experience hand by hand with Shiva, from Himkala Adventure). I had 6 days left, so taking time and weather into account (in Monzon season the visibility is not warranted), we decided to do the Langtang Trek. This trek has its rout going side by side with the river, with the mountains accompanying. It is a way of walking that allows you to - as they say - "talk to the mountains" the moment you reach the peak and get to see the glaciers - as we know - the impressive Himalayas

The Langtang Trek is an amazing, exciting and mind blowing experience, in which you get to walk across the flowers, meet new animals, cross rivers, balancing over the rocks and try to reach the top of the world.

The standard number of days recommended for my itinerary is between 8 and 10 days (instead of 6), but I hadn't more time so I had to rush a little bit. The extended version allows you to expend two days in Kyanjin Gumpa and get to 2 or 3 peaks to reach the 5.000m. Another possibility from there is to go the Langtang Camp Base from which alpinists reach the 7.000m high. At the same time, in the Langtang zone you can spend a week more doing the Gosaikunda Lake Trek or the Tamang Heritage both with impressive nature and mountains views. No special preparation is needed for those treks, just an active lifestyle

As an advice to anyone that wants to explore Nepal, more than doing just one activity type, I would recommend comfortable shoes, easily dry clothes, hygiene basics of all types and medication. Besides of that, although in the mountains they have the clearer air, in the city and roads there is a huge quantity of dust and pollution, easy to solve with a soft scarf to cover your mouth and nose

If you are about to travel, just open and clear your mind and enjoy!
