The Konkan coast in Karnataka is home to many beaches. While only a few of them are popular, the rest of the beaches hardly get any attention and visitors. The good part however is that it makes you get access to a beach side place, without the worries of crowds, and surroundings that make you calm down and take in the vibe of the village.
One such village is Tudalli, right next to the famous Murudeswara Town beach. It has a little delta formation where the sand slowly gives way to the sea, after seeming to forming a little shapeless island. At this point, is a little bridge connecting the beach to the village temple, overlooking the hills. On rainy days you have a little cherry on top, with clouds encircling the hills one side, and waves threatening to swallow you from the other.
If you drive a little north, through the green corridor of the village roads, and then a little bit of the highway you also find your way to the hillock path, which has the Apasarakonda waterfall amidst a marine park by the sea. A very rare combination of a beach and a waterfall. How amazing is that? Does this sound like an interesting place to go to?
Here are a few things to keep in mind to getting there
a) Getting Here- Your nearest railhead would be Murudeswara Railway station. Buses also ply here to this coastal town. The nearest airport would be the Bajpe Airport in Mangalore, from where this town is a 2.5 hour drive.
b) Staying here- There are lodges, mid-range accommodations as well as luxury accommodations in Murudeswara Town
Lodge- Aryana Guest House Sea View
Mid Range- RNS Residency
Luxury- Murudeswara Ocean Edge
c) Planning the Day -To go around to Honnavara, Tudalli and Apsarakonda, you would do well to rent a taxi for the day, or if you dont mind a bit of a hike and public transport, you could do it like the locals do, travelling in their mini buses at a fraction of the cost.
d) Best Time to Visit- These places are all weather places. The monsoon brings out the greens and changes the weather. The summers are a great time to lounge in any waterbody. You could plan a 3-4 day relaxed trip around Murudeswara itself.
