Day 1

It was was Saturday midnight when we started our journey to Coorg from Bangalore. Arrived at Coorg by early morning at around 5:00 AM. We had booked a homestay 30 km away from the city of Madikeri within the forest to have a calm and relaxing stay.

We got refreshed after travelling the whole night. Then stepped out to visit the tourist spots. It was cloudy throughout and raining now and then. So the first place in our list was Raja's seat.

After staying there for 30 minutes clicking pictures we went to the nearest falls 'Abbi Falls'. It was a 100 meter trek downhill to reach to the falls. But the view was splendid.

Then the came the most exciting place of the whole trip. The name was 'Mandalpatti'. It was raining heavily so I had to leave my phone in the car. For reaching this place you need to book a jeep from Abbi falls as the road is not suitable for regular cars.

There is a peak in Mandalpatti where the wind will really blow you out. We went there when the visibility was zero. Nothing more than 20 mtr was visible. The attraction of the viewpoint is not the views but the wind and the clouds. It seemed like all the wind from all over the Western ghats converged to that point. It was difficult to stand still. The rain felt like pins getting pinched in our skin. Do visit this place and if you are lucky you will experience something like this.

After this we had plans to go to Iruppu Falls but considering the facts that it was 70 km away and it was late and also we were exhausted like hell we had to skip the plan for the next day.

Day 2

Iruppu Falls was our first destination. Reaching Iruppu Falls was a wonderful experience. The greenery was spectacular. The narrow roads surrounded by green trees was amazing to see.

After travelling for 2 hours you will reach the destination. This falls is amidst the nature. There are places where you might find snakes. But the falls is amazing. You also might bath in it. But beware of snakes as one of my friends got bitten by a snake while he was bathing in the falls. But the snake was harmless.

From here we went to Elephant camp in dubare where you need to cross the Kaveri river by boats or if the water level is less you might cross it by foot to reach the opposite side. This side of the river has elephants which are chained up and trained. You can buy some elephant food and feed them. From my personal opinion I didn't like the place because the way the elephants were kept was hard to look at. They were tranquilized and beaten up by the masters.
I won't recommend tourists to visit the place. Instead visit Nisargandha which is a small island on the other bank of Kaveri river which you had to cross by a foot bridge.

And finally we headed towards Bangalore by the evening after having a great weekend at Coorg.

Happy Travelling!
