Back in 2009... I moved to Bengaluru for an year. After coming to Bengaluru I was trying hard to make a group and start exploring South India. Finally I found company in my office colleagues, we (Me, Manjit and Rakesh) decided to go Munnar in Kerala but we didn't got tickets for bus and we ended up with Coorg as our option. We started at friday night to catch a bus from Kempegowda bus stand to Kushal Nagar. Getting Bus from Bengaluru to Kushalnagar itself was an adventure 🙄, because none of us knew Kannada. Me (Marathi) , Manjit (Punjabi) and Rakesh (Pahadi) thought that our trip is gonna end on this Bengaluru bus stand it self. After a bit of struggle we managed to get bus to Kushalnagar🚌.
We reached Kushalnagar in the morning around 4 Am, waited till morning at bus stop itself. In the morning we found a hotel (no proper planning back in the days) and after check-in we hired an auto, he took some 400 bucks for taking us to Buddhist Monastery, Nisargadhama and Dubare Elephant Park. Buddhist Monastery ⛩️ was HUGEEE and worth a visit, this place is also called as Ladakh of South.
Nisargadhama was a park developed around river Kaveri, it had small zoo and animal museum. We explored the zoo and took a boat ride in river Kaveri as well.
Dubare Elephant Park 🐘 was waste of time for us, because we reached after elephants bathing was done which was the main attraction here. While we planning our day in morning, Manjit came-up with "innovative idea" 👻that we all will wear same colour t-shirt, since three of us had red colour t-shirt we wore them. We were looking like band wala :).
We came back to Kushalnagar by late afternoon, got bus to Madikeri ....capital of Coorg. We reached Madikeri by 7 Pm, found a hotel and had a good night sleep.
Today's plan was to explore Madikeri, to cover the spots we booked an auto 🚙for 400 -500 bucks. First spot was Abbey falls, it almost 6 kms from main Madikeri town.. after getting down from auto .. a short walk took us to Abbey falls.. it was a beautiful waterfall.
Next spot was Omkareshwara Temple dedictaed.. it was such a serene temple. Temple also had a pond inside which has many fishes too.
Next we visited Raja's tomb, it is basically a group of monuments dedicated to Kings and Queens. Our guide/driver gave us quick brief about this place.
Best thing was left for the last ... watching Sunset from Raja's Seat. After watching sunset we had a dinner and called out our day.
Next morning we left for Bhagamandala. Bhagamandala and Talacauvery is origin of river kaveri. There is one wooden temple in Bhagmandala, its very nicely built and worth a watch.
Tala kaveri is 10 kms from Bhagamandala, we got a tempo to go there. Lot of people visit this place to see origin of river kaveri... as it has religious importance.
Last day of our trip... we left from Bhagmandala ... next stop was Nagarhole National Park to see Tigers. However we only saw.. deers.. elephants and peacocks. After taking a tour in national park.. we got a bus a till Mysuru and then, from Mysuru to Bengaluru. This trip was one of the most amazing one .. loved all the places we visited.
