Trek with leaches!

The third highest peak in Karnataka and wonderful peak to trek

Its about 45km from Madikeri

On the way you get to see a lot of sightseeing and beautiful greenery to enjoy, and road is pretty decent, but you still get to see potholes here and there so watch out while driving, Off course it’s a hill station so you can’t except a lot.

You have little space to park your vehicles I would say its little congested but spacious enough for parking 2 wheelers.

Its better if we start a little early so that we can reach the location and pace up on trekking and reach our destination. Make sure you carry necessary things like salt I will explain why salt, lemon knife, why salt and lemon not for making juice out of it because of leaches, so if you apply lemon and salt either one on your legs and feet, leaches wouldn’t be able to bite or suck blood out of your body. Carry water bottle and eateries but please don’t throw plastics and litter the place.

Its our responsibility to keep the place clean and hygiene. Save our nature and soil.

We reached by 11 in the rainy morning and got ready wearing rain jackets and other stuffs necessary and started trekking. There are few wild animals around like elephant and leopard, but we couldn’t find any luckily. It was pouring, Leaches were ready to hop on to suck our blood but as I told we were also ready with our weapons as well.

On the way to the peak, you get to see small streams here and there which is very cinematic kind, and I would say it’s a treat to our eyes. It’s around 3.5 to 4 kms of trek one side so before you trek pull up all your stamina and energy to hit the peak and more over don’t give up in-between and come back because you will miss out on astonishing view once you reach the destination.

The feel you get once you reach the destination is beautiful, I think that’s the reason destinations are always nice. All my friends were exhausted including me, we spoke lot of things, cherishing our old memories and cracking jokes and pulling each other’s leg and we didn’t realize how the time passed and reached the peak.

As I mentioned it was a beautiful moment, it was raining, filled with fog, cold to death but it was all vanished with the happiness of reaching the peak. We clicked few pictures and ate biscuits and cakes, note we didn’t throw the plastics out there, we took it with us and dumped them in the dustbins.

Finally, when we were back from the peak, we all were little wet, so we thought will change and then leave, we couldn’t find any room to change nearby so changed right near the car. While changing leaches hopped on to our legs and bit us.
