The cottages of this resort are located on a hillock on the edge of the Bhadra reservoir, near Lakkavali, stone’s throw away from the northern boundary of the Bhadra Tiger Reserve, in the Chikmaglur district of Karnataka, surrounded by the lofty hill ranges of Babubudangiri.

The soft waves of the backwaters of the river lashes the edge periodically, harmonizing the sounds of nature, to put you in a perfect state of bliss.

Things To Do:

With the soft ripples of the river’s backwaters providing a subtle background score, it's gonna be a relaxing stay filled with pleasurable experiences. The Bhadra Tiger Reserve is about 4 km from the lodge. You can opt for a jeep safari in the evenings that offers the opportunity to sight leopards, tigers, gaurs, elephants, crocodiles, deer, wild boars, monitor lizards, etc.

Bird-lovers are in for a treat with over 200 species including, grey junglefowl, White-rumped shama, racket-tailed drongo, Malabar pied hornbill, Brown fish owl, Grey-headed fish eagle, Osprey, White-bellied sea eagle, Serpent eagle, Crested hawk eagle, etc. calling these forests home. January to June is the season when the River Terns also flock here - so that's the best time if you wanna get a glimpse of them!

You can also choose to go for the Tyverekoppa Lion and Tiger Safari as well as visit the Sakkrebyle Elephant Camp, that are located in closer proximity to the River Tern Lodge. And in case you feel like frolicking in the water a bit - the resort has facilities for kayaking, boating etc.

The River Tern Lodge has currently 24 twin-bedded accommodations with cozy interiors to ensure nothing but pure serenity and privacy. Each room has a veranda overlooking the tranquil waters of the Bhadra Reservoir and not to mention the spectacular view of the sunset over the backwaters. It has been a conscious decision to not have television sets in the rooms so that guests can enjoy nature in all its glory.

Apart from the comfortable accommodation, the Gol Ghar which is a circular, open-to-all-sides gazebo, serving as the dining area, providing an extraordinary 'close-to-nature' experience.

Best Season To Visit:

June To September is the best time to experience the sanctuary as it is lush and green from the monsoon season. But if you wish to spot some unique varieties of birds, then January to March is the best time.
