Day 1

Sakleshpur, also known as 'Switzerland of Karnataka' or 'Poor man's Ooty', is situated in Hassan district of Karnataka in Western Ghats. Surround by lush greenery, fragrant coffee and spice plantations. I started journey to Sakleshpur via an outstation cab along with my friends and niece, which made it an all-girls-2-day trip. Sakleshpur is 225km from Bangalore and the journey was perfect during monsoon season, music, pouring out giggles and laughter. So what else is needed right? Just the right kind of weekend getaway as expected.

I had plans of camping at Sakleshpur but due to rains camping option was not feasible hence opted to Coffee Inn Homestay suggested by the camp owner. We stopped by at Kamat for south Indian breakfast and it was great. Then we all headed to our homestay where we reached by around 12.30 pm. The expression that came out of all of us was 'Wow'; that's how exactly the place can be described. This homestay was amidst coffee plantations with areca trees, flowers, mud pools, big ground, relaxing place what not.

We freshened up and had an amazing non-veg unlimited meal. Guys, the food was just incredible; can't ask for anything more. After a filling meal, we headed to stroll around the place. The homestay is a one stop place for all games, be it indoor or outdoor. It has many activities on offer such as mudwater volley ball, cricket, ziplining, rain dance, boat rowing, carrom, badminton, chess, disc throw and off course loads of fun.

We didn't know how the day went by in just enjoying the view, getting lean in the nature, rain drizzle. In the evening, we had an amazing coffee and bajjis, and also played some games with other trippers. The hospitality of the people here was at peak, Athithi Devo Bhava is perfectly defined seeing them. They ensured our happiness and checked on our needs on time to time. It was so overwhelming to see such kindness and happy people.

As it got darkened, bonfire was set out for different groups (I always had to pay for bonfire but here it was set for free). Me and my girls just enjoyed the cool weather, light music, food, drinks, laughter, gossips, talking about random guys, discussing our lives, our dreams, our future aspirations, taking in heat from bonfire, what not... That was indeed a laughing riot evening. At night we had yet again amazing scrumptious meal can't explain the taste it has to be tasted it was just yumm.....

After heavy dinner we went to our seating area, talked a lot more, played badminton, swingy, enjoyed the night totally. We were awake till midnight and then retired to sleep.

Day 2

Today, we started off late due to late night sleep, had an amazing freshly brewed coffee and delicious breakfast.

After breakfast we had to check out but our heart was still at the place and made plans of coming back again.

We planned to visit around few places hence rode first to Manjarabad fort .

Manjarabad fort was built by Tipu Sultan, it was around 10-12 kms from the place where we stayed. It's a small trek up around a kilometre and ends to an beautiful big fort. With drone cameras the star shape of the fort can be viewed beautifully. After a good visit at the fort we headed to nearby falls.

Next stop was a small water falls which can be found all around the area, stopped by for having a hot tea along pakodas and enjoying the waterfall view.

The way back to Bangalore is via Hassan, so Shettihalli Church can't be missed. All have to stop by this beautiful place. Shettihalli church is a beautiful structure of Gothic architecture and it got abandoned after construction of the Hemavati reservoir & dam. It is said that the church gets half submerged during monsoon. So, one has to be here at monsoons to witness the amazing submerged view.

After an amazing time here, we left for Bangalore enjoying our 2-day trip!

Best South Indian breakfast place ever..!!!
