Well, Chikamagalur is hardly 4 hours drive from Bangalore. If you are lazing around and nothing planned for the weekend, this can be the best option for an impromptu Road trip. We booked our 'Zoom Car' and left early in the morning and reached Zostel Chikamagalur! by noon ~ I totally recommend this stay if you are a solo Traveller or with family/friends and want to explore all the places to visit in Chikmagalur. The stay is just amazing! ????
We all had travelled the day before as well therefore, we chose to stay put and play Uno at Zostel!????
Also the rain made it even more chilly and fun, that evening.
Tip - There are buses from Bangalore too but Zoom Car is the right option to get around Chikamagalur

We planned to explore the Mullayanagiri Hills, it's around 1 hour drive from Chikamagalur. The cloudy and drizzly weather made the ride even more beautiful.
You can park your car at one point and hike the way up. Its an easy hike, so a sports shoe or converse would do.
We left to Mudigere, another place to visit in Chikamagalur. It's also around a 45 minutes drive. We reached a Kalabhaireshvara Temple on the hill top which also had a lake beside.
We clicked a few pictures and it started to Rain like crazy. We waited in small hut tea stall and the lady was extremely generous for making Ginger Lemon Tea especially for us.
Tip - Always carry Umbrellas if you are traveling to any hill stations in South India, it always rains unexpectedly.
On our way back, we stopped by the Coffee Center and learnt a little more about Coffee Plantations and the effort these farmers take to bring us the best coffee in the world.
We checked out in the morning and planned to explore the historical places to visit in Chikmagalur called Belur and Halebidu on our way back.
These towns are a must visit for Ancient Architecture enthusiasts. The 12th century Hoysala Empire have left behind these intricate architectural marvels. It was a delight to have explored these places to visit in Chikmagalur.
