The opening of the new toll plaza in Ganangur, Srirangapatna by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), will lead to increased travel expenses on the newly constructed Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway. Starting from 8 am on the 01st of July, the road toll will be collected from Mysuru to Nidaghatta in Maddur.
The notification that was issued by NHAI on 28th of June, i.e., Wednesday, the following toll charges will be levied for the different type of vehicles.
• Cars/SUVs/Vans for a one-way ride – INR 155
Toll for return-journey within 24 hrs – INR 235
• LCVs/LGVs/Minibuses for a one-way ride – INR 235
Toll for return-journey within 24 hrs – INR 375
• Trucks/Buses (with two axles) for a one-way ride – INR 525
Toll for return-journey within 24 hrs – INR 790
The current toll is in addition to the toll that is already in place on the Bangaluru-Nidaghatta stretch.
The NHAI will introduce a monthly pass priced at INR 330 for non-commercial vehicles operating within a 20 km radius of the toll plaza. According to NHAI, there will be no toll charges during the mock drill on the e-way scheduled for June 30th.
Mandya Congress MLA Ravikumar criticized the imposition of this new road toll on the e-way, deeming it unscientific.
NHAI is still in the process of completing various tasks on the expressway, including the Hanakere Underpass, relocating near Amaravathi Hotel, establishing an entry point at Hosabudanoor, expanding the canal at Chikka Mandya, and marking the old Bengaluru-Mysuru Road. In light of these unfinished works, NHAI's decision to levy toll charges is deemed unfair.
When questioned about the new toll, Pratap Simha, the BJP MP of Mysuru, expressed unawareness of the decision and mentioned that he would seek further information from the relevant authorities before providing his perspective to the media.
