Mysore Roadtrip

Tripoto
22nd Jun 2019

Mysore is just a 3 hour drive from Bangalore, hence a popular place for short weekend road trips. You can easily drive or hire a vehicle (which would cost ranging from INR 1500- INR 3000).

En-route mysore you will encounter a small town called Bidadi, which has a lot of roadside eateries serving lip-smacking thatte idlis, vadas, filter coffee etc. You need to halt here and give these a try. Next you can head straight up to Mysore or take a little detour and visit Tipu Sultan's palaces.

We started at 10am in the morning and reached Mysore around 1pm and checked into our hotel. Since it was a 1 day trip I made booking via Oyo and got a decent property nearby Mysore palace.

After lunch and some rest we went out to explore the city a bit in the evening. We visited Mysore palace and St. Philomena's church and on our evening stroll and watched the Mysore palace all lit up, looking like a palace of stars.

The remaining day was then spent resting up.

The next day we started early for the Chamundi Hills. Oh the roads are beautiful and the feeling after driving till the top, even more fulfilling. The Chamundi devi temple had a long queue but we had a good darshan.

[P.S.- Ask your hotel for the day tour packages and contacts, they will help you out with that and the packages will normally range from INR 2000-INR 3000]

Other places to visit include the Mysore Zoo, Vrindavan Gardens, and Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary. You cannot miss watching the sunset at Vrindavan gardens and witnessing the light and sound show there. It is so so amazing!

If you are into bird watching then please visit the Bird Sanctuary, it is spread across a very large area and has a huge variety of birds and animals to spot. :)
