Day 1

So my husband is a big riding enthusiast and has done many bike rides across the country with his riding group and alone. Always he has been teasing me about how it is a man’s job and its not my cup of tea. It needs a lot of endurance and will power to go on a bike ride and not for people who like to have leisure while travelling. It is the most amazing thing and you get a perspective of your life. Ok!!! Enough of this blabbering and I decided to give it a chance. What could go wrong ???? its just a bike ride after all.

So here I was , all packed and geared up for my first bike ride with a few friends who also wanted to give it a chance. We decided to explore Hampi from Bangalore which is a good 400 kms apxly.

First thing first, while you are travelling on a bike you do not have a luxury of packing up a suitcase and carry as many footwear’s as you like. Hence I was allowed to carry just pair of shoes which I was wearing and just another set of clothes which could fit in the carry boxes our bike had installed on them.

Gears check !!! Jackets check!! Breakfast done and we started our journey from bangalore on 4 bikes. The heat was scrotching and the sun was bright. It was a hot summer morning, but still felt a breeze with all the enthusiasm and excitement. Thankfully the highway is quite good and we took frequent breaks through the deserted highway. It took is about 10 hours to reach Hampi on a bike since most of us were new to riding. One might cover the distance in much lesser time if they are experienced riders.

After the tiring journey we were welcomed by rain in Hampi. It was already night when we reached. But let me tell you it was all worth it, after exploring the beauty of this place. The remains and ruins of temples are breathtaking. One can spend a quiet evening by the river bank. Or can watch the sunset after a short hike on the sunset point.

Exploring the heritage during the daytime and relaxing by the river in evening makes this place a perfect destination.

One important point is if you want to stay near the cafes , which is called hampi island you would have to cross the river on a boat and reach. It is the only way to reach here.

Day 2

After the tiring journey on Day 1 we decided to start our day by exploring the city. The beautiful remains and ruins of the temples here are breathtaking. One must visit the stone chariot which is cut and made of a single stone. If you are a heritage lover , you will fall in love with this place.

It would be necessary to hire a govt authorised guide while visiting the temples , else you will not get the real perspective of the history behind the remains. The stories are nerve wrenching and remains are breathtaking. It is a weird yet amazing combination.

After a long day full of exploration we decided to relax by the river . There are plenty of options to explore the cafe’s near tungbhadra river.

The Laughing Buddha cafe is a must visit. They have lip smacking snacks and coffee. when you are here do give a try on pasta at Bobby’s place.

After chilling for a while we decided to watch the sunset at sunset point which is walkable from buddha cafe and requires a bit of hiking. Ending the day with beautiful sunset made the day perfect!!

Day 357

After the day of exploring and relaxing it was again time to pack our bags and start with the bike journey. This time I was more positive and had a little experience of my own about riding.

As sceptical I was about this trip, it turned out to be an amazing experience and helped me explore the tougher side of me. And yeaf I agree with my husband now it is not everyone’s cup of tea and does give you a perspective about life while riding. If you also think that you can’t do it , I would say why not give it a try ? What could go wrong !!!
