There are many zoos in South India. Few are large in size; and few have many animals. The most popular among all these is Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, popularly known as Mysore Zoo.
Mysore Zoo first opened in the year 1892 and it spread over 157 acres. The zoo has around 1300 animals at present. It is nicely managed and maintained and one of the main tourist attractions in Mysore.
Once you enter the zoo, it has a track to follow to cover all the animals and birds in the zoo. There are electric vehicles available for the people who face challenges to walk.
It started first with birds section and then leopard, tiger lion. The cage of Leopard is having glass wall so you can see them nicely.
After that you will go through the area for deer, elephants, rhinos, and other animals. The structure of the areas of each animal category are very nicely constructed so that you can see them properly.
After that you can see crocodiles, many birds, snakes, and giraffes next.
It is really a great zoo to visit. Kids would enjoy it a lot, and so thus adults.
So, whenever you plan to visit Mysore don't miss visiting this excellent zoo.
