Tell me something, you've seen the Gokarna beaches, the Chikmagalur mountains, done the Hampi getaway too, and now are looking for something different and want it to be done over a weekend because well, we all know the Monday awaits the blues so why not lets go somewhere that has beautiful views, the forest calms and gives you "away from the hustle vibes"? Let me take you to "Ermayi Falls" in Dakshina Kannada
How to Reach : There are a plenty of options and below are the best ways to reach.
1. By Bus: Ermayi Falls is located near Ujire and hence, you could easily book buses till Ujire or Dharmasthala and from there I would suggest you to either take a local rickshaw or ask your hotel/homestay to arrange a pick-up.
2. By Car : If you've lived in Bangalore for a while, I am sure, we all know how we love those drives to Dharmasthala, just drive till Dharmasthala and from there check-in to your homestay and you will be sorted as most home-stays/hotels will sort out the transport if you require one to reach the falls.
Where to Stay: There are a lot of homestay options available either in Dharmasthala or Ujire and you could choose any of the local hotels as well. I stayed in this beautiful homestay and would gladly recommend this one for you. Just book this one and they will take care of the rest, from your meals to arranging you a pick-up and taking you to the waterfalls. Literally everything will be sorted.
Now, let's go and explore the beautiful Ermayi Falls. It is located in the middle of a forest, a quick hike for about an hour will lead you to this beautiful layered waterfall in Dakshina Kannada and reminds you why Dakshina Kannada is still such a hidden gem as it is still unexplored and only known to the locals of this region.
However, we all have this opportunity to explore this gem of a waterfall surrounded by nature, the birds chirping, beautiful water streams throughout your hike. A bit of adventure with someone's help can get you to the top of the waterfall and you will be lucky to see the local kids and young teenagers jumping from above and the water splashing all over. It is a sight to experience in person.
After you play at the waterfalls , and click all the pictures till you're tired, it would be time to head back and then have an elaborate delicious Dakshina Kannada meal. Trust me there is nothing better than a delicious scrumptious meal after you've spent some soul-full time with nature.
In the evening, you can enjoy the bonfire and have a peaceful time with your friends and family while you munch some snacks and then call it a day after dinner.
All in all, a quick day trip to Ermayi Falls from Bangalore is all you need to unwind and spend some time with nature, well, what better way than to play in water right? Also, when it is a hidden gem and a layered waterfall, its just another reason for you to plan this trip. Hopefully you will also explore this hidden gem and let me know how you liked it in the comments.
