Karnataka’s Ettina Bhuja will soon be open for trekking and Indian trekkers can't keep calm! Resting in the Chikkamagaluru district on the outskirts of Bengaluru, Ettina Bhuja is one of the most gorgeous peaks in South India and a hikers’ paradise.
With the Forest Department recently announcing the commencing and regulation of trekking facilities at the said spot, the long awaited changes finally seem to be taking place. Apart from the stunning natural beauty, it has only one trekking trail till the peak throughout the entire chain of Western Ghats. This not only adds to its charm but makes it all the more alluring.
If tourists plan to make a visit, they can head to Bheemeshwari, Nandi Hills, Skandagiri, Kodachadri, Brahmagiri hills, Kudremukh, and Ramanagara, which are other places of interest for trekking enthusiasts.
Forest officials claim that due to the growing popularity of Ettina Bhuja, the Department has introduced certain restrictions for safety purposes and decided on regulating trekking activities as well. Bookings for hiking and trekking trips can be made only through the official website of the board. Actions will also be in place to ensure littering does not occur on the used paths.
Mainly two paths are used for taking the trek. The shorter route starts from Byrapura village, while climbing from Shishila takes longer to complete the summit. The longer route, however, is already regulated. Opening up of more trails might lead to more waste produce but it also opens up the opportunity for sustainable travelling. Some even fear the occurrence of forest fires by inexperienced or careless travellers.
