Jog Falls located in Karnataka is one of India's most beautiful waterfalls. It is the second-highest plunge waterfall in India. The falls are major attractions for tourists and are ranked 36th on the list of free-falling waterfalls. Nestled on the Sharavati river in Karnataka’s Western Ghats, a visit here during the monsoon season is a must.

By 2023 : Jog Falls will have a Ropeway, a Science Park, an Amphitheatre & Boating Facility

These majestic falls are set to get a much-needed makeover as the Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) officials are planning a host of projects, including a 400-meter ropeway and boating facility to Hebbail's Padmavathi temple. They have already started to commission works to ensure that this spot soon turns into a world-class tourist site.

The project is the brainchild of Shivamogga MP B Y Raghavendra and includes a religious aspect. As part of this 165-crore revamp project, the current viewing deck will be upgraded and another one will be added. An amphitheatre for cultural events, a science park to keep the children engaged, and amenities like a cafeteria and toilets will be provided at the site. At present, tourists have to take permission from KPCL to travel to the temple via Kargal, a distance of 15 km. Although the boat journey will have prior approval it will cut the distance and time while providing a unique experience.

As suggested by the media reports, "The ropeway from PWD guest house connecting the opposite hill will be the major attraction as it puts the tourist in a central point above the valley, giving an uninhibited view of the falls."

Additionally, a bronze statue of Sharavati will also be erected at the site. Officials are also looking to rebuild the swimming pool which was dismantled about six years ago. It is expected that this larger-than-life makeover of Jog Falls will be completed by the end of the second quarter of 2023.
