Kanur - one best monsoon ride

With a bunch of guys we left Dharwad 6 in the morning. We were aware of the weather conditions(rainy) and we were ready for it! Reached yellapur by 8.30 or so. Had a good breakfast at Krishna Hotel which is famous for the udupi style Breakfast( Dosas, Idli-vada, paratha). Then left towards Ankola. After reaching Idagundi we headed towards Kaiga, taking a right from the Ankola road. This patch of road( karwar 92km) is the leadt explored, untouched & lush green.

Many small villages passed and the ride was smooth and amazing amidst the greenary. We took some pictures wherever it seemed the best to capture memories of the ride.

Reached Ajji gundi falls, but as its in a private farm, the owner denied to get in due to heavy water and snakes!

We headed to Kanur, jad some lucnh on the way in a small shop at kanur, taking a right from there a muddy road takes us to the inner parts of deep jungle. Crossed two streams, this was an amazing part of the ride.

Finally when we reached the falls site, we were confused with the trails to reach it as there were 2-3 of them. Then by hearing the sound of flow we somehow reached the first site of visit. To reach the plunging point we again started to walk but unfortunately got mislead and reached back the parking site. Then again we took a different route and reached the falls half an hour later.

It was one of the best views of western ghats i have ever seen. The depth of fall, the view ahead, the valley, the greenary was breath-taking!
The only thing to consider seriously is Leeches! They wont let you even stand still in a place for a min! Place is filled with leeches in monsoon, so be careful. Carry a packet of salt/tobacco/lime for safety!

Then we headed towards karwar via Kaiga. There's a check post on the way, registered the vehicles and then moved ahead. This is the most dangerous stretch of ride, has very steep roads, narrowed to 4 feet at places, many tree twigs, branches had fallen due to heavy rains. But contrasting part is, this is so beautiful and a best ride experience. Reached karwar at 4 and had lucnh! Visited a near by beach and then headed towards Ankola. Via yellapur we reached back Dharwad by night 10.30pm.
