This route hosts many waterfalls, lush dark forests running along the alluring Sharavathi valley. If you love riding through dark forests, stopping to be awed by streams dropping from impressive height, this is for you.
Mist had covered up the view, we could only hear the roaring fall, in anticipation we started down..
To see the first view of the magnificent,
One enthralling experience to be at the bottom of this huge waterfall.
Jogada gundi
The Sharavathi gushes down in all glory over a rocky terrain from a whopping 250m at this world famous jog falls point.
Wiki:
The water comes down in four distinct falls. The Raja Fall pours in one unbroken column sheer to the depth of 830 ft (250 m). Halfway down it is encountered by the Roarer, another fall, which precipitates itself into a vast cup and then rushes violently downwards at an angle of forty-five degrees to meet the Raja. A third fall, the Rocket, shoots downwards in a series of jets; while the fourth, the Rani, moves quietly over the mountainside in a sheet of foam.
Descending down to Honnavara, our next destination was Apsarakonda falls, a pristine waterfall.
Healing experience to be one with this plunging beauty covered in a canopy of trees.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀"Apsarakonda" roughly translating to "Pond of angels" has a mystical allure. Visit early mornings to avoid the crowd, maintain silence, take a dip, get a dose of that natural massage and rejuvenate away!⠀
Honnavara is also known for the famous Sharavathi bridge.
Now we were officially running along the coastline, next stop - Murudeshwara.
World's second tallest Shiva statue by the Arabian coast, Murudeshwara, KA.
Raja gopuram at the Murudeshwara temple entrance. One of the tallest gopuras in southern India- a 20 stories tower surrounded by the Arabian sea on three sides and hills on the other.
After a dose of lush forests, serene waterfalls and soothing beach we head back, a long way home to Bangalore.
