How i fell in love with the sunset #gokarnainphotos

Day 1

Reached Gokarna from Goa taking local buses where friends from Egypt had reserved a cottage for us. The sea side road view was beautiful to say the least. I was traveling with my ex-girlfriend for she had suffered a heartbreak and wanted me for her own solace. Not that I was really enthusiastic about it but then what the hell, I did love her after all and so agreed. Once in the cottage we were greeted by a big fat toad sitting right in the commode. My ex was not particularly enthusiastic by this grand welcome. It was late and we only got the glimpse and the soft sound of the sea for the Gokarna sea is quite docile compared to the heavy metal songs they sing at other sea side resorts in India. And I love hard Rock but can appreciate classical music too which is what Gokarna's sea had to offer. But the real storm had been raging in my heart what with the woman, the estranged love of my life, accompanying me for her own peace, needing only my company (!) and consolation where I still pined for her. The pain had lingered and seeing my couple friends and all other couples around didn't help soothe the sweet yearnings of my heart. But then came day 2 and I saw the splendor of the Om Beach, the colours of the early soon and the sea and I started feeling better. People making rafts out of plastic bottle was quite amusing and I participated and played with those typical Fikarna short bovines. But I still wasn't prepared for the evening and when it came, the glory and heavenly colors of the majestic setting sun stunned me and I was in a trance without needing anything to get into one, you know what I mean. The sun was there as if to remind me of itself as the constant companion, the forever love, the primal connection; the primordial call of nature had spoken to me and I fel in love once again. Blessed is the holy hour of sunset and blessed am I to experience it and that is what I did for the next one week going from one Beach to another hungrily soaking the soothing sight of the setting sun. I have been in love with sunsets and though they say it at least Neil Young sings 'every junkie likes the setting sun' I realised there that every heart darkened by the madding brightness of the city sun or the tantalizingly soft shadow of a fat lazy sun in the chill of a cold city needs to experience the colours of the setting sun. I will ever be grateful to Gokarna for opening my senses to this spiritual connection of the magical hour that we are too blind to notice in the humdrum of a city life. Since then it has been my mission to explore and experience sunsets across the country and have been doing that whenever possible. The sunset, my love, my passion, my connection to the beyond...
