It was that time of the year where my mind was all irritated and I was all tired of the traffic and the IT Life here in Bangalore. I had the symptoms and I knew just knew what had to be done.
Gokarnaaaaa...... (Just like how people cheer Goaaaa....)
For me, Gokarna and Peace of Mind goes hand-in-hand. Gokarna has given me the most peaceful stays in all my travels that I have done till now. The beaches, the trek, the temple, and the vast and clear sand is they key for my happiness to give me the most needed thing in the world, tranquility.
Reaching Gokarna isn't that a great deal. Book a bus directly, or book a train, but the most memorable would be by car. Trust me, you will have the best travel, driving on the the smooth highway, stopping my in Davangere, for that amazing Benne dose.
On reaching Gokarna by private bus, you will be welcomed by a troop of auto drivers waiting to take you to your destination. The government bus stop is further inside the city, and if your room is in the town, you will mostly just have to walk your way to your lodge. I always book my room in Kudle beach. So, from the private bus stop, the rickshaws charge you a 100 bucks to take you to the Kudle beach, from where you will have to trek your way down to the beach.
In the morning hours, you will be welcomed by many foreigners playing in the water, or sunbathing, with a book in their hand. The rest of the day would be spent in the shacks.
Forward to day 2. The idea was to trek all the way to Gokarna beach or reach Gokarna temple and hike the way back to Kudle beach. The Mahabaleshwar temple has a story to tell you, which dates back to Tretayuga. Upon visiting the temple, and some juices and shopping on the way, it is finally the time to hike our way up. Almost from near the beach, there goes a road towards the hillock which leads you to Rama teertha. One must stop to drink the water that comes from nowhere, just to compare the bottled water and the naturally available water. Taking the steps up, you will end up finding another old temple, from where you would get the best view of the Gokarna main beach.
Walking you way along the path, you will end up on the starting point of the Kudle trek trail. You can further continue to walk in the same path to reach the trek trail of Om Beach. The second most famous place in Gokarna after the Gokarna main beach. The land mass here is very similar to the "Om" written in Sanskrit. Walk down the steps to reach the beach to witness the shape and the serene landscape there.
From there, a climb up towards the northern direction will land you back in Kudle beach. Settle down in one of the shacks with a mug of coffee and the witness the most beautiful view on earth, the sun setting in the west. As the sun goes down, a different life starts off in beach. Spend your time on the beach relaxing, looking at the stars and the ships in the distant ocean for the rest of the night. It is very safe there with the police patrolling at frequent intervals.
With all these memories and the with much needed peace of mind, it was finally time for me to head back to normal life in Namma Bengaluru, as a Data Scientist.
This place has forever changed my mind. The place and the positive vibration has made me to keep wandering every couple of months once to keep myself going forward with life.
